Listening to ESPNU a little while ago (think someone subbing for Packer on Off-Campus), one of the talking heads said they should go after someone like Monken. Stated they’d always be at a talent disadvantage and may as well be different. :coffee2:

That would apply to many schools (Minnesota and Baylor a few years ago or example) but there is a reason it doesn't happen.

Yes it’s called idiotic alumni. Lou Holtz said as much at Notre Dame.
 
I enjoyed this article on coaches getting a faster hook in college football. It basically highlights that fan win-now expectations are somewhat unrealistic. It also specifically talks about the decline in attendance and the money at stake being driving factors in the decision making.

More recently, a new aspect has impacted decisions: fan attendance, something dipping across the country. Administrators are trying to get butts in seats any way they can. That includes renovating their stadiums to add more premium seating, selling beer at games and, of course, hiring coaches to win games with fun, exciting offenses

Even some of the game’s greats struggled at first. Bill Snyder won six times in his first 22 games before becoming Kansas State’s all-time wins leader. At Iowa, Kirk Ferentz won four games in his first two seasons, and Frank Beamer at Virginia Tech didn’t win more than six games until his seventh season.

His son has been following him from stop to stop. GT then Indiana for a year then App State.
 
I don't know if Moorhead is a good head coach or not, but it's insane that he was only given two years. It's also a really bad look that they waited until after early signing day to make a move.
 
How can you transfer that many times? You usually sit out a year when you transfer. Does "my daddy is moving" qualify as a hardship?

It looks like he got a waiver to play immediately at Vandy. We probably helped with that. He sat out this season at App State. If he follows his Dad to Vandy, I would think he would have to sit again and lose a year of eligibility leaving him with one season left to play. Who knows where he is academically. That does not seem to be a priority. His brother was a QB at Charlotte in 2017. Doesn't seem to have played since.
