I was annoyed by the officiating. LSU had way more penalties and penalty yards against them, but it still felt like the calls/no-calls and reviews/no-reviews mostly hurt Clemson.

That said, the call that took the TD off the board seemed OK on replay to me - it looked like the Clemson guy kind of threw the LSU guy off of him (downfield, because the ball was a little underthrown) and the LSU guy grabbed the front of the Clemson guy's jersey to try to stay in the play.

Ultimately, Lawrence played a pretty bad second half. I don't know if it was that LSU was that good on D, or if he was just rattled and trying too hard, but he was bouncing or sailing a lot of throws late in the game.

Was it Higgins who just got leveled from behind on a pass that sailed and the “rules guy” said good play, no targeting. He completely ignored the issue if hitting a defenseless player. I think the PAC12 crew tried to assure ESPN we are with you infavoring the SEC team all night long. I went in to the game saying I was neutral. As the game wore on I got more and more behind Clemson due to the refs and announcers.
 
I think Burrow's season was the best by a QB in college football history. Even better than Can Newton. GOAT.

Anyone disagree?

He put up 60+ TDs and 5000 yards and lead his team to beat 4 of the preseason Top 5 and 7 of the Top 10 (or something similarly insane).

Easily, he put up the greatest season in CFB history. I do that shit on the Xbox.

Totally agree. Early in the game Clemson was penalized for a blind side block. I agreed with the call but when Stevens hit Rodgers in the back on the overthrow, that was without question a defenseless player. Plus I felt LSU got great spots all nigh from the line judge.
 
Since the game was so late I DVR'ed it. Just watching now and the offensive PI call on Higgin's TD with 11 plus minutes left in the game was huge. Clemson would have cut it to 10 points. It was a horrible call. If there was PI it should have been called against the LSU defender. Total bias BS towards the SECheat.

That's how I saw the PI situation as well. And also agree that this loss is going to be laid on Trevor Lawrence's shoulders.

Isn't it interesting how one year ago everyone said Lawrence was the best QB around... and then he had a somewhat mediocre season this year? And now Burrow is the best ever?
 
As far as holds on the OL, I think there has been an NFL style decision made by conferences and referees to protect QB's in the pocket and allow a good bit of holds. It just seems to me most holds are called on runs or on a WR on a run or pass, not so many on the OL.
There were some OL muggings on our field this season, both teams playing.
Protect the QB's = $$$.

I interpret the rule that it is OK to give players money as long as you give a regular student money. Or maybe it is OK if you give the player money if it is in public but a no no behind closed doors. Who ööööing knows when it comes to the NCAA. I just know a former player better not give a current player $300 worth of clothing.

I don't think anyone (maybe outside of a few Cajuns) saying that Joe Burrow is the best QB ever. But he can certainly make a strong case for having perhaps the best season ever for a QB.

Maybe the way I should have phrased that is "QB with the best prospects." Trevor last year, Burrow this year. Good thing for Burrow that he won't be sticking around to have a less than perfect follow-up season.

Thing is, if both Trevor and Burrow were eligible this year, I still think there is a good chance that Trevor would get drafted first. 6'6" with his 40 time are measurables that don't come around often.

Lawrence looks good getting off of the bus but Burrow makes plays on the field. I want the guy that makes plays.

NFL GM's have their rules. Fortunately we have a GM in Tennessee who does not follow the crowd. That is the reason we got Derrick Henry and A J Brown in the second round and Jeffery Simmons late in the first. You draft the best football player not the best measurables or temporary injury status. Our GM came from the organization that drafted Brady and Shaq Diesel.
