This team can play good football for several minutes at a time. It’s playing well for a whole game that has escaped them.
 
So a 60-yard kick return, a bullshit PI call, then their RB literally runs around our entire defense and we potentially lose Griffin for the game. Must be GT football!
 
So they flag the good defense but let them play on that pass? Makes sense
 
I think the problem with our special teams is a self destructive issue. Kickoff team only practices tackling Cottrell who has never heard of cutting, so its easy to tackle him for normal stops. Cottrell practices against our kickoff team, so he looks like a reasonable returner in practice. Brad stewart almost never fields a punt, so the punt team doesn't practice sprinting downfield and tackling.
 
VT has a 90% touchback rate on kickoffs. Best in country. Our ST is so bad they are intentionally keeping it in play.
