Hopefully this is better than last year's game. Amazingly, Notre Dame only has two more road games after this one.

Texas has way too much hype. Maybe it's closer than last year's game because of this new offense, but it's no magic bullet. True freshman QB for Texas over senior Tyrone Swoopes, who will never be good. Their defense is probably good, but it was good last year when they gave up 38. Notre Dame without injuries is going to have enough guys to win it comfortably.

I suppose the thinking is that it's more Strong's team than it has been in the past, with more of his recruits now seeing playing time. A lot of it is probably just people expecting Texas to be Texas again, sort of like how people overzealously pronounce Miami's return to prominence whenever they win a big early season game.

The difference between Strong's Texas and Strong's Louisville is a first round NFL QB. Strong's mark has been stout defense, which he has. I don't know much about that true freshman they have, but I'm not betting on him to make it happen.

I'll never understand how Texas can stay mediocre for a multi-year stretch.

Which situation would drive ND football into the ACC faster... Consistent mediocrity or being really good but missing out on the playoffs a couple times?

Considering they have conference preference I don't think it is happening any time soon

I just have a hard time figuring out if I want to root for ND or not. I mean, it's not like I exactly want to root for Texas...

I am pulling for Texas tonight. Texas being good is good for the Big 12 and for football. And I like rooting for the underdog.
