UGA's offense isn't any better than Tech's but their defense is in a different stratosphere. D is what wins games, especially when your offense is struggling...and oh it does make a difference when you can knock some FG's through too.
 
I used to listen to old Tech games from the 1950's on YouTube. Coach Dodd would punt on third, second and sometimes on first down. Football was a lot different, but I think he could have coached and won in any era. When former Tech QB Stan Gann became a high school Head Coach, he went to see Coach Dodd and asked him what type offense and defense he should run. Coach Dodd said, "It doesn't matter what type you run, as long as you can get your players to believe in it." I always thought that was interesting.
