My opinion won't be the popular one but I wouldn't at all be surprised to see Griffin as the starter getting the most reps by the time we get 3 or 4 games into the season. He was solid this year and had more burst than Mason but Mason was so tough to bring down between the tackles. Given the nature of OL this year, Mason had to break a lot of tackles at or behind the line of scrimmage but his lack of speed turned home runs into 15 or 20 yard gains.
Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying I don't like Mason a lot...I do. But if our line is able to open holes better this year and I think they will be able to do so, Griffin's going to take some of those the distance and that will earn him more PT. He already got a lot of reps in obvious passing downs last year and did a really nice job at picking up blitzes so he appears to have that part down. Another year of getting bigger, stronger, faster and I think you might see Mr. Griffin becoming the primary stud during much of the game with Mason getting a lot of reps when you need those hard-fought 2, 3 or 4 yards.
