oh crap...kickoffs from the 30 next year**

As a Steeler fan, Kordell did lots of things, just not well. Please let that sleeping dog lie.

I didn't say he was AA doing Them I just said he did them. By the way he was second in the Heisman one year.

I loved Billy Lothridge, he's probably the reason I became a Tech fan in the first place.

I had forgotten that Billy even place kicked. For most of his years wasn't Bunky Henry the placekicker? Remember the 6-3 game over Tennessee? First Tech game I ever saw on TV.

Don't sneeze at Lothridge's punting numbers, he was All-Pro in the NFL for several years as a punter I believe. And he did finish second to Roger Staubach of Navy for the Heisman his last year at Tech.

He never had the skills to play QB at the pro level, but DID play safety some until he lost one of his kidneys.

I'm amazed that we couldn't find someone to kickoff in the endzones from the 35. My son took it up his senior year after never doing it before and by the end of camp could kick it consistently to the 5 yard line. That was from the 40, but with a little work there should be guys who can do that.

rw1, as I said, I'm not trying to run down what Lothridge did. But the game has definitely changed over the years. The age of the specialist makes many of the numbers the old timers put up pale in comparison to just average players these days. Coaches understand and teach techniques they never really thought of back then.

I do agree on our kicking woes. It's amazing to me that we can't find someone who can get it at least inside the 5 consistently with a lot of loft.
