Oh Good Lord (MNC Squawk)

Championship teams don't have double digit turnovers in their spring game. (which is what we would have had if you counted the number of kicks that should have been blocked)

Unless I'm mistaken, CPJ took care of that.

Prove it. Besides which we didn't have double digit turnovers according to ramblinwreck, and we were using all backup QBs and Centers.

Too soon?

Personally, I believe so. Let's win our division first, and then follow it up with a victory on 11/28.

THWG!

Oops, sorry. Didn't see the other thread till after I posted.
I would not want a team or player who did NOT think a NC was attainable--Good Grief, THAT is what all teams STRIVE for. I am THRILLED that the NC is the teams GOAL--and--I for ONE believe it IS attainable----THIS YEAR!!

Championship teams don't play every person on the roster during a real game. I know where you're coming from and fumbles were a problem but some were by 3rd string or lower players. We also used 4 separate kickers in that game. Plus there will always be the issue of was the kick going to be blocked because we sucked or cause the kick defenders didn't try cause they knew the defense wasn't going for the ball.

I honestly think spring games are not very good indicators of how well you play. I mean, think about it. How do you know how well you're doing against a a team, when you play yourself? I think what we do know is that our defense in general needs to get better. If LSU was able to stop our offense as well as they did, the team that uses the offense itself should know very well how to stop it as well. Or not. I really don't know.

If Tech wins all of their games, their are going to the BCS championship game. Remember when BC and USF were ranked high? Yes Auburn, but they tweaked the formula since then.

No formula should've gotten Auburn into the championship game. They tweaked the formula to give the human polls more power - do you think an undefeated GT is getting in over an undefeated SEC, Big 12, Big 10 or Pac 10 team (with the recent reputation of the ACC) when it comes down to the polls?

Worry about winning the ACC and beating UGA - let everything else fall into place.

Well, if GT enters the preseason rankings in the top 15, it may even get to #2 even if it loses a game, providing it loses it early. Which, if GT does this season, it probably will be an early one any way.

But this talk is just stupid right now. Set goals now, but play each game individually when they come.

I think we have four goals in the following order:
1. Win division championship
2. Win state championship
3. Win conference championship
4. Win national championship
Those should be the goals every year. The only problem I have with talking about national title early, is how will you respond if there is a loss.
The first goal I would be talking about is "Tampa".

Yeah he did. That was hilarious.

I also about busted a gut when the orange team doused Womack with the Gatorade bucket for getting the win.

Prove it.
I can't. My inference that national championship level teams don't turn the ball over in the double digits during the spring scrimmage is purely speculation, but it doesn't seem particularly outrageous to me.

Count the number of fumbles the offense recovered and the number of kicks that should have been blocked, or were blocked by our head coach, and yeah, you get into the ten range.

Your last point.. ..and Leibs's...

Championship teams don't play every person on the roster during a real game.
..is viable, until you notice who fumbled, which was basically every QB who played and our superstar soon to be NFL bound B Back.

I think we'll be fine in the fall. I think we'll win 9 or 10, which will be awesome, but Jesus H Christ, guys, all I said was we're not a championship team, and after today I don't feel too out of place saying that.

We seem improved. But there's a lot of room for us to improve that still puts us short of a NC squad. Bama wasn't even close to a NC squad last year and they butchered Georgia in 20 minutes. We might be there in two years, but not yet.

It's very unlikely there will be three undefeated teams playing 12-game regular season schedules. Auburn went 12-0 in an 11-game regular season with 3 OOC cupcakes in the weakest year for the SEC in the last 20 years.

Even if there were 3 undefeated teams, I think it's very possible we could go over an undefeated Big 10 team and possibly even an undefeated Big XII team if it's someone like Mizzou or Texas Tech on the Bill Snyder cupcake plan.

GT plays a pretty tough schedule this season, and it helps immensely that we close the season against one of the top SEC programs.

I'm not gonna second-guess PJ's motivational tactics. He seems to have done pretty well everywhere he's been, and I expect he guides his teams to set realistic goals. Do you reckon Navy was chanting National Championship when they broke their practice huddles?

Michigan, OSU, Penn State, Missou, and TT would all beat us out if it was just us and one of them going for the #2 spot. The big 10 teams have more of a fan base and more recognition and the 2 big 12 teams have been more in the limelight since we have.
