Ole Miss delays series

bingo...but not either GSU.

Names that come to mind are:

Central Florida
Syracuse
Purdue

No offense Hivered, these aren't good matchups. Let's play in recruiting hotbeds, Pittsburgh, Purdue maybe but let's find someone in Ohio. Then head out west to Texas. I can't imagine any good sec team wanting to play us anymore just because they will lose a gimme game. I wouldn't be surprised in Saban doesn't back out after he watches us next year.

I didn't look at a lot of teams, but '10-'11 is so close, it'd be hard to find it. But it's possible. I just don't want more cupcakes. I'd rather have a big time game.

How about @ UGA. That's a tougher non-conference opponent than a lot of teams have on their schedule already.

Central Florida is definitely a recruiting hotbed for us...that is my number one choice. The match-up with O'Leary would be good for the media. Travel costs would be low...and odds are favorable for tv pick-up.

Your ar right on the SEC....they will not want any part of us.

I would like Syracuse or Pitt over a Texas school in terms of national interest...but you are correct those are both recruiting areas (Texas and northeast). I just think PJ will increasingly look in Georgia and the southeast only for recruits.

Ask Ohio State how that worked out for them this year. Their season could have been 11-1 with a really high ranking, but instead they're 10-2 and their season is a huge disappointment.

Is that a hidden shot\pun? I like it. Maybe we can find a quality opponent. sign up Ohio State, Texas, TT, or Penn St! Lets get a ringer of a game!

Yes, let's play Alabama & U[sic]GA (current 2010 ooc opponents) and add Ohio State. And then, wonder why we went 10-2 instead of 12-0. Are people really this dumb? (rhetorical question).

We'll have a good team in 2010. Let's not beg the AD to screw up its chances with an insane schedule. U[sic]GA and Alabama ooc are enough any year.

I have heard from some Ole Miss folk that they have an opportunity to play Tejas home & home in '10 & '11, which is why they asked to push our series back. Apparently, they'd rather lose to the Longhorns than to us.

All you have to do is go undefeated in a BCS conference to make the national championship game guys.

NOT SO. If there are two other teams undefeated
in 2 other BCS conferences, say Pac 10 and Sec, we would still be screwd..NO way they would put an undefeated ACC team in THE game over 2 unbeatens from the Sec and Pac 10..and Probably not in over the Big 10 if they had an undefeated team.

All you guys that are scared of putting a great OOC team on our schedule are wrong..Miami and Fsu have (See Oklahoma & Ohio State, they are both on their future schedules) and have the right mentality, play anyone, anywhere. if we don't, it could come back and bite us as far as going undefeated and then like Auburn a few years back, being left out looking in. And Don't give me that argument that we already have Ugag on the Schedule, there is a pretty good chance ugag will barely be a top 25 team in the next few years, with losing stafford and mareno and us beating them regularly. Another thing, Fsu has a VERY tough UF annually on their schedule but, that doesn't deter them from adding another great team on their schedule. we are NOW in a position with P.J. at the helm not to be scared of playing anyone. You were talking a couple of days ago about how tough it was to annually be a top 10 team and that it took winning BCS games, well, you become that top 10 team by scheduling a U.S.C. or Ohio State and beating them.

FWIW..Miami has Oklahoma and Ohio State on their schedule the next 3 years and Fsu has Oklahoma and BYU on their schedule the next 3 years, I guess they are forward thinkers, believing they will be back and wanting to prove it by beating those teams and shooting up the polls. we need that mentality!!!

How were the OOC schedules of Florida, Alabama, and Oklahoma this year? Or really, the OOC of any title contenders in recent years? I think you'll find they look pretty similar to ours, if not worse.

Worked real well for Ohio State this year. If they did not schedule SoCal...they may be in the national title game.

The way for an ACC team to get to the game is to go undefeated in a BCS conference...which is rare as much as everyone thinks it is going to happen every year.

or

Be in a media-favored conference, lose early, and only lose once.

This year is proving that. Alabama has not beat a highly ranked opponent and they are #1.

Some other facts:

- Only 1 time out of the 11 years of BCS has there been an undefeated D1 BCS conference team to not play in the national title game. That was Auburn in 2003-04.

ONE OUT OF ELEVEN

- 3 out of the past 5 national champions had one loss.

If you go undefeated in a BCS conference you are essentially guaranteed a spot in the top game...and this year would have been no different.

In cases where you have one loss and go, schedule strength is huge. The problem is just that the bias is so heavy against the ACC...if your one loss is to an ACC team you are not going...and if your one loss is against a tough OOC opponent you are not going either because they will claim you ran through an easy conference for the rest of the games.

UGA is still ranked in the BCS, and Ole Miss is ranked in the AP and USA Today polls.
..sorry....meant to say "highly" ranked

My main point is that only one time in eleven years have there been more than two undefeated BCS conference teams. That was three in the 2003-04 season.

I don't mind playing big teams but we should be smart about it. Gosh, we have one 9 victory season and now everyone thinks we offer basketweaving, have depth out the @#$...

This year we beat Miami, FSU, UGA and Clemson in the same year. That is just not going to happen very many times in our future. And show me how many top teams play those four schools PLUS UNC, BC (who may be the best of all of them this year),UVA, VPI, etc.

Are y'all crazy? Ohio State is a top program for one simple reason, The Big 10 stinks and they have to play 2 real games a year (Michigan, PSU maybe). So they need another tough team to play. We don't. USC is a good team but they play a couple of real teams a year. They need some bulk in their schedule. We don't.
