Anybody heard any updates on the possible postponement of the Ole Miss series? I'm looking forward to doing some :nutkick:ing.
 
I would like to see this confirmed also.

I've heard that it was being postponed and/or cancelled. (As recently as this weekend from an Ole Miss fan)

I hope not, as I would really like to see these games played in both venues and visit the Grove again.

Edit: FWIW - Ramblinwreck.com still has the series on with 2010 here and 2011 at Ole Miss.
 
Series is off, Ole miss asked for postponement, but don't expect it to ever happen. Never known Houston Nutt not to back away from a challenge.
 
Weak. I just hope we can find someone decent to fill those spots with, and I don't mean someone like Gardner Webb!
 
I guess Ole Miss doesn't want to hurt their chances at using a win of the SEC West and victory over UF in Champ game and using that argument to get into NT game scenario. Not saying I think it will happen but I'd bet some Ole Miss fans are.

We better put a BCS team in there, our OCC games don't exactly get that much better after 2009, I see a good bit of FCS opponents.
 
Is it conceivable that Drad would refuse to backout of the series? I mean look what happened the last time, nobody worth a darn would play us. I hope he says "OK, only if we can get a decent home and home with comparable school, if not, sorry, live up to your end of the bargain."
 
Can't Ole Miss pay us a penalty and back out if they want to? Didn't Army do that last year?

I agree. There are so many D1-A schools that are at the same level too. Plus it hurts a whole lot more to lose to a FCS school than a crappy FBS school.
 
DRad has said he thinks he will be able to schedule someone decent as a replacement because there is more time than the Army backout. He's looking for another SEC or Big East team, I presume, based on his previous statements. Have any insiders heard anything about possible replacements?
 
I heard (and this is rumor and hearsay, so FWIW) that Ole Miss is wanting to back out b/c they have an opportunity to play Texas those years instead. Not sure as to the truth of that, why they would have to back out of playing us to play Texas, but still... This from some connected Ole Miss folks who got defensive when I insulted their AA and Nutt for being scared of us.

Ole Miss is backing out because Houston wants to be able to beat 4 crappy teams and 3 SEC teams to get a 7 win season and a good bowl. At Arkansas he was famous for 4 crappy wins plus a 4-4 SEC records getting Cotton Bowl births. Heck, he can go 2-6 in the SEC and still go to bowls if by padding his non-conference. It's how he rolls.
