Where in the handbook does it say to be a Georgia Tech football fan, one has to be always looking on the bright side? I would submit, that if, like myself, you have been a LOYAL FAN for more than forty years, you deserve some kind of medal just to have remained a fan at all. For most of the past four decades the GTAA had asked for money, and begged the buying public to purchase tickets while they attempted to palm off a product that was anything but big time NCAA football. And yet, we're still here, cheering for our team---in good years and bad years---hoping against hope that one day we can see lightning in a bottle again such as in 1990. For anyone to presuppose that we should sit here with a smile on our face while we watch absolutely poor play is sort of ridiculous. When we are paying a coaching staff money reserved for the Steve Spurriers of the world, should we not expect a little more than we saw last night? I understand Spurrier will never turn South Carolina into the University of Florida--but South Carolina would have destroyed us last night. South Carolina coached by Brad Scott would have destroyed us last night.
What is the purpose of these fan boards if not to elicit opinion? Should we all just offer up pollyanna thoughts and hope for a better day? I see a lot of negative comments this morning---but the vast majority are grounded in factual observation, albeit colored by the deep disappointment of yet another hopeful season already tarnished. It wasn't the fans that projected this team to be improved over last year's magical run. It was the staff and the GTAA--admittedly selling snake oil--which is their job. Most of the posters here know, love , and UNDERSTAND football. We have serious problems on this team right now. To ask that they not be discussed seems silly.

I am no longer a fan of "Oh well, better luck next time".

Reminded of a quote from Scrubs:
Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. Bastard-coated bastards with bastard fillings. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bubble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.

I agree with Yukon. It would really disappoint me if we all were just like, "Our team played like crap last night, but it was just a loss." If you don't care about losing, then why do you watch the game.

There is a point where you become overly optimistic. Realize folks we are 1/4th the way done with our season. 25% of our season is gone. I haven't seen anything that proves we are as good or better than last year.

Yukon just likes to troll. Take a look at his posts, he was quite jovial all of last night.

Exactly. This is his way of making himself look like less of a troll after his bull**** antics last night. The next time we lose, he'll repeat the entire process.

I know enough negative engineers to know that I get annoyed by them in a hurry.

By the way, you can be as negative as you want, it doesn't mean anyone has to listen to you or care about you.

You play to win the game. I watch to watch my team play to win the game.

So you are confirming that you don't care about losing? That's the point I was making in my post. People act like we should just lube up our butts and take it when we lose. They expect some overwhelming optimism after losses. I tried that a bunch of time, but you know as well as all of us that we are 2-1, but in those 2 wins, we didn't play more than 1 quarter at the level we played last year.

Yukon, you don;t ever need to give your opinion again, because when you do the exact opposite happens. I knew I had good reason to fear your GT blowing out Miami prediction. You couldn't predict rain if there were thunder clouds above and water splattering on your head.

There's a way to discuss w/o going insane

My problem is that there fewer on here that actually understand or know the game, and the F'up the mood and flow of the discussion by posting some Assinine comment (see GTKyle or paint baller). They'd be better served to just read along

Its as irritating to those that know about the game as... Well singin a song out loud and f'n up the words

Stupidest post in the history of StingTalk. I knew more about football, and Georgia Tech football, when I was ten years old than 99% of the posters on this and all other Tech message boards. I did feel we would win and win big last night. But I also knew there would come a game when Tech would fold like a house of cards. I have experienced it a dozen times over the years. I didn't think it would be last night, actually thought it would have been last week. So this should make your evening---I think UNC rips us and our outmatched coaching staff a new asshole next weekend.

Weren't you the guy who said GT stopped caring about football when they hired PJ?

Your football knowledge (all big bad 99% more) blows about as much as Kyle's does

So this will make your evening------shut the **** up, cause you don't know a f'n thing

No the dumbest post in the history of message boards still is the one you made about GT and the high ups are de-emphasizing football when they hired Paul Johnson.

Then you posted last year we would win 3 games at best.

Now you're making positive predictions and look what happened.

Just do us a favor and shut up and watch from the sidelines because its clear you don't know ****.

No, I was the guy that put forth the suggestion that Radakovich, having said he wanted a more marketable product, and said that he wanted to make a hire that energized the fan base, went in the exact opposite direction and hired Paul Johnson. My comment was along the lines of maybe the GTAA and the Administration was contemplating de-emphasizing football on a grand scale, because the hire made no sense when compared to the AD's and the search committee's stated goals---and still doesn't. I have since personally---perhaps foolishly--bought into Paul Johnson as head coach of my beloved Yellow Jacket team. My choices at the time of the hire are well documented, but let me reprise them for you: 1. Will Muschamp; 2. Rick Neuhisel; 3. Chris Hatcher; 4. Paul Johnson.
To restate the painfully obvious, tonight we are paying Paul Johnson about $1.8 million and Chan Gailey about $900k to have a team that played like Louisville, or Virginia, or Miss State, or Indiana. There are rumors that the locker room is split, that the offense does not believe in the coach's system, and that Jon Dwyer took a powder last night. There is trouble in paradise that only an exceptional coach can reverse.
