One good thing from tonight

The "season is not over" after this loss any more than it was after Clemson last year. In fact, this loss is better than Clemson last year, not that losing is good or anything, because it gives us more motivation and identifies more stuff to work on.

That just depends on your goals for the year. If your goal is to:

- Play in the ACC championship game
- Beat Georgia
- Play in any bowl regardless of how embarrassing it is in the face of 4 National Titles

Then there's something to look forward to ... I just think losing at home and getting completely abused defensively (which was our strong suit) bodes poorly for the rest of the year. I guess the CFB system just makes losing once end any hopes of a championship so early and makes the rest of the season much less meaningful.

These two are always our goals, and always have been since O'Leary. And those goals are not exceedingly more difficult after losing to BC, certainly no more than they were after the loss to Clemson last year.

I agree with you 100% that we will not be able to go to the National Championship game with this loss, but anyone who thought we were going to the NC game preseason with a new QB and no cornerbacks was fooling themselves. I also agree 100% that the results of the game do not bode well for the rest of the season. But honestly, in direct comparison, we weren't beaten as badly in this game (in my opinion) as we were by Clemson last year, all things taken together. When Clemson beat us last year, I walked away thinking "there's no way we can beat them in the ACCCG," and after last saturday I feel firmly that we can beat BC if players step up and we get some different officials.

Getting back to the original title of this thread, "Good things from [Sat] night" I would like to nominate Greg Smith who was playing his rear end off the entire game. Some of the plays he made were on sheer determination and guts. Officials notwithstanding.

And while I'm typing, I will simply voice my extreme objection to calling out anyone who plays for Georgia Tech by saying "they suck." No, YOU suck for saying it.

Valid criticism is inbounds but no one who plays for GT sucks. NO one. /rant

Thank you. You dont play D1 football by being horrible. I love to hear casual fans tell of how bad a hard working player is. He didnt get there by being bad.
