One of the greatest GT teams of all time

This. In the short-term, the Vols are in the better position: stealing a game they had no business being in. Long-term, I think we're in a much better place.

This is the most optimistic I've ever felt after a loss.

Agree. If we lost a game like this to UGA, or really to anyone late in the year, I'd be much more bummed. I feel like we saw about as much potential from the QB and B-back spots that we've seen during CPJ's entire tenure, and these are guys who've never started a game.

See, here's the thing.. ..This game didn't actually matter. For any of our season objectives. We will absolutely make a bowl game, so no worries there. Losing here in OT doesn't affect our ability to beat Georgia. We now know that we have a good BB and quite possibly a fantastic QB. In the first half, our DTs even looked good. All questions answered. Tennessee just got really ööööing lucky, with missed kicks, rare and uniquely damaging fumbles, etc. All the big game jitters are wiped - there won't be a bigger stage this year until the ACCCG. Which, after watching that, we may very well play in.

VT and Miami both play FSU cross division I think.

Lot of ööööing rationalizing in here

We lost a game we should have won. Our kicking game is ööööing awful. If that dude keeps kicking, he costs us more games.

Defense got tired. One ööööing stop and we win. JJ Green might as well be a ööööing Georgia double cover spy with that fumble

Ugh.

???? Our offense was sharp but our D looked worse than usual, especially given that our O held the ball for so damn long. Our kicking and special teams were horrific and much worse than the past few years. We led 28-14 against a shitty UT team in the 4th qtr but choked and lost.

We'll handle the Pukes and Cadavers on our schedule but that D isn't going to stop any decent O we face.

I guess there's no where to go but up for the kicking and special teams. Not sure about the D though - seems to be a constant.

The game matters numb nuts. Maybe not for the conference standings.

VT/Miami are both quite better than UT. The lack of a pass rush will cost GT as will the kicking game going forward.

Only positive is a the QB/B-back looked as good as Thomas/Mills. Same 'ol D folding when it counts and poor special teams.

This is virtually the same defense that helped rattle off 4 straight last season. Take a bubble bath, Nancy.

You have it. I trust CPJ to fix the dang kicking issues. Buckle your salty asses in and enjoy this season. We are going to wreck everyone in front of us.

Both of these. A lot of you are some whiny punks. That was in the top 5 of most hearbreaking losses I've experienced but I'm hyped as hell for this team. I hope that the result tonight doesn't hurt the team's confidence because they dominated out there tonight and they could win every game from here out.

Get your öööö minds rite.

You too Shirley. That D will play much, much better offenses going forward.

Marshall will give GT a shot in most games outside of CU/Miami. D and special teams will cost GT a few more losses.

Breathe, seriously.

???

Most teams aren't going to not play offense for a half against us.

Kicking game is a öööö show. And will cost GT more games.

Ewww T is not a good team.
I told my dad in the first half that kicking will cost us a game or two, thinking Miami/UGAg. Sadly,it happened tonight.
Here's what happened, in a nutshell
Poor kicking/FG's/Kickoffs
Poor ball protection when it counted.
Poor pass to a wide open receiver for the icing TD
Poor tackling and form on the long TD for Tennessee
Killer chop block call

OTOH, Marshall played his ass off. He is a stud. Benson is a stud. The OL played a fine game. Cooper did a fine job delivering the football.

Tennessee didn't make the second half mistakes we did. The pick or fumble or big stop just didn't happen. We had them in a 3rd and 10, they get 11.

This, my friends, is a Yetman.

You don't see the optimism? Get the öööö out of here.

Piss off.

I'm optimistic that the QB/B-back combo looked every bit as good as Thomas/Mills.

D is still pedestrian--not one QB pressure all night.

Special teams are a significant downgrade from Butker.

Lastly, we lost to a middle of the road SEC team with one of the poor offensive units we'll see.

Maybe Marshall can be fun to watch this season in a series of shoot outs.
