One Thing I'll never understand

Why do bad human's like kirby get so much rewards it all seems like a cruel joke.
I mean he learned from Saban. He took the blueprint with him. Add in what others have said, a large amount of $$$ for resources, staff, etc combined with one of the Top 3 states from a talent standpoint, and it’s not hard. It could be MUCH worse. From all “rumors” thrown around on XM Radio, etc, Saban would have picked UGA over Bama if the job was available at the time. So a bullet was dodged there.

Let’s also add in some factors here for what’s happened the last few years.

1. UF has been an absolute disaster since Mayer left.
2. Tennessee has pretty much sucked since Fulmer was forced out.
3. Auburn has been as inconsistent as it gets. Failed coach after failed coach after failed coach.
4. FSU took a massive downturn when Fisher left that program broken.
5. Alabama had a slight hiccup and the D fell behind the last few years.

Clemson and Alabama have been UGA’s only real competition on the field locally as of late (minus LSU in 2019).

CMR went up against the above programs being near the top of their game for a majority of his tenure. Add in CPJ being a thorn in his side at times. I just wonder what would have happened had Smart taken the South Carolina job. Rumors again indicate UGA panicked and fired CMR when it looked like Smart was going to take the South Carolina job.

The tough part to reconcile is people thinking he’s a “good coach.” Same with Dabo. Put these boys in a salary cap league and they’d be useless. They require overwhelming talent / funding advantage to be successful. But they’re considered great “coaches” b/c college football is so ööööed these days. Can’t forget 2016 when CPJ was literally toying with Kirby, goading him into burning TOs.

One day UGA will have to issue an apology for the Kirby era.
Apologize to who? You think any fanbase cares? It’s all about winning. The NCAA is about to be booted out of FBS football as the governing body within the next 5 years anyway. Rewind back to the last time the NCAA hammered a program. It was USC and Reggie Bush. That’s all legal now.

Good news is, when the NCAA is removed, maybe a true governing body can implement rules that each conference must follow as it relates to spending, etc. Biggest thing that will impact GT, Stanford, NW, ND, etc is the removal of the stupid APR. At this point, CFB, CBB are just minor league systems that have nothing to do with academics. Especially with players coming and going whenever they want. This will become even more so soon enough as NIL, Portal and performance based contracts for players are eventually refined.
