Not sure I can bear to do that. I was at the game in Clemson, watching from the visitor seats next to the band, so I couldn't see a dang thing.Go back and watch the game, Herbstreit broke it down pretty succinctly with video of a half dozen plays during the 4th quarter.
Here's my ignorance again, but I was under the impression that the initial read on the mesh is whether or not X defender is attacking it. Hence the fact that they are committed to attacking the mesh seems like it should make the read easier, not harder. If there's a big ol' mean defender at the mesh every time, doesn't that make it more obvious not to give the ball to the B-back?I haven't rewatched the game yet, but I'm assuming it's two reasons:
1) The defense was forcing him to make his reads quicker by attacking the mesh point.
2) He was scared. It's pretty easy for us fans to ignore the physical toll, but TM was getting his ass beat pretty much every play, and nothing was working. "Deer in the headlights" is a pretty good description, I think.

Teams that give us trouble take the B-back but come off him immediately if the QB pulls the ball and gets to the QB incredibly fast. Sometimes it even looks like they are faking toward the B-back only to take the QB after the QB has already made the read. Here's my ignorance again, but I was under the impression that the initial read on the mesh is whether or not X defender is attacking it. To my eye (again, claiming no knowledge of this at all), it looked like the problem was much more that we couldn't sustain blocks. Everywhere TQM went, the Clemson defenders were sure to follow. Usually with malice aforethought.
I’m surprised CPJ has not made adjustments to the offense when faced with an unblockable front like Clemson’s.
The Vad Lee experiment did not work. They would have just tackled us for bigger losses if we started further back.
Our offense was outmatched last weekend but we still left a lot of yards on the field by not pitching the ball when we should have. Lots of zero yard keepers should have gotten five on the pitch.
What we really needed to do was pass more out the gate.
The defense played lights-freaking-out after the monsoon stopped.
