This is just sad. BCS bowl not sold out, or at least no where near capacity.
But really, is typical of most of the bowl games this year. The only ones I've seen at or really near full were ours and the Rose, though I'm sure the Sugar, Fiesta, and BCS game will be full.
I think this is a part ofthe beginning of the demise of the bowl game system. Going to a bowl game just isn't a big deal anymore for most teams, at least the good ones, and fans just aren't excited about traveling for 2nd rate bowls.

Looks to be at about 60% capacity. I'm actually shocked that it's that full.

Ours wasn't even that full. Tons of patches all over the place, mostly in the LSU sections.

I think it is a sign of the economic times more than anything else. Folks just can't afford to go to the games. CFA Bowl was sold out for 12th year in a row.

I only saw a few empty seats. Mine along with several others were probably empty in the second half.

Step away from the exhaust pipe that you've been huffing. The Dome was 85% full easily with a good 50-55,000 donning their gold.

At least VT seems they MAY pull this one out.

I hate VT but the ACC needs to AT LEAST pull out the biggest game of the season (league-wise) and end this embarassing streak of losses in BCS games...I'm sick and tired of hearing how we don't deserve the bid.

I'm actually watching this one with extreme anticipation. ACC needs to wrap this one up.

Ballgame. VPI wins an embarrassment of a BCS game and the ACC goes to 2-9 in BCS games.

Oooh...Oooooh. This just in....

Tyrod Taylor has just been arrested for raping marijuana and VT has to forfeit.

Oh well.

God, I hate VT...but at least the ACC pulled this one out.

For the record, I am definitely on the line having stated this will be Tyrod Taylor's last game ever.

Wat?

The number of bowl games has really expanded over the years. That makes the prestige of being there less, and for some teams it has become a routine 13th game of the season. It's possible that the TV revenue makes the game economically viable even with the stadium mostly empty. That may be the reality of the future: games played for TV in a mostly empty stadium.

attendence at the dome was officially 71,750. At least last I checked. The seats above the LSU section were empty, but I think thye might have been reserved for those high school bands who didn't care about the game.
