Orange Bowl looking even crappier now...

Hey, it's a good thing VT has a crappy opponent in the Orange Bowl. It wouldn't hurt for the ACC to get the "doesn't win BCS games" tag off our backs. In 5 years nobody will remember it was really the equivalent of a low 2nd tier bowl, just that the streak was gone a year sooner as hopefully by then the conference will have won a few more.

This is a significant game. According to this article, it could change the computers immensly and make it a possible Texas vs. OU championship http://bcsguru.blogspot.com/2008/12/split-title-for-florida-ap-style.html

The guy who composed the article has changed his tone a bit this morning because he thinks that the pollsters understand that the computers will put OU vs Texas, so many of them are going to put Florida as #1 instead of #2 (many of them would have UF at #2 according to their prior votes). The guys on 790 were talking about this yesterday on the radio. Apparently the pollsters look at the computers in the last week of play and determine where the computers will rank the teams before making their choices. Even though the computer rankings aren't public prior to their picks, there is a way of finding out what the computer rankings will be http://www.colleyrankings.com/playgod.html. I.e. they are going to set up the National Championship the way they want it regardless of what the computer have to say. The guys on 790 were saying that they think it is unethical to do something like this. I think it is just one more example of why we need some playoffs.

Peach Bowl > Orange Bowl

[Yes, I know it isn't really the Peach Bowl]

Peach Bowl > Orange Bowl

They should remove the Orange Bowl's BCS status and give it to the Peach Bowl, on the condition that it is officially renamed to the Peach Bowl.

VPI will now lose to Cincinnati. VPI stinks in the big games plus they'll be overlooking the Big East champ now. Mark it down, VPI loses.

I don't mind the manipulation. I don't care how good a conference is. It would be an absolute tragety if two teams from the same conference played for the MNC. Recall a couple years back when they were talking about OSU(n) and UM? Same thing here.

The only bowl games I ever get really interested in are--TECH (whatever bowl we are in) to WIN--and Ugag (any bowl, any game, any sport) to LOSE bigtime!!--and YES, the Orange bowl sucks this year (mainly 'cause we are not in IT!!
