They were about to convert ANOTHER 3rd and 18ish before the fumble.. just crazyIt’s wild - of the 4 big defensive plays we had (2 sacks, blocked punt, forced fumble), two were immediately negated by a pick and one came on the last defensive play of the game and won the game for us.
We looked BAD on defense - couldn’t get lined up, receivers running wide open everywhere, some tackling issues, not a lot of pressure on the QB. But thankfully we did just barely enough to win with an offensive performance for the ages.

We just need to bring a few DLs, LBs, DBs and defensive coaches.OUR DEFENSE SUCKS!!!!!
Exactly, I saw an LB throw his hands up in the air while looking at the sideline as the ball was being hiked too many times.Defense looked confused before the snap ALL GAME. Not sure what the deal with that is.
Then their offense needs to get on that same pageMaybe the strategy is to appear confused in order to confuse the opposition's offense.
31.8How many ppg are we Currently yielding?
We need to recruit speed on the defensive side of the ball. Our guys always appear a step or 2 slower than the opposing offense across the boardDefense made some decent adjustments at halftime. Still way to slow on getting calls in. Too slow on substitutions as well.
OUR DEFENSE SUCKS!!!!!
And to think, those numbers from 2008-2018 look better than they actually were because of offensive TOP and lower number of possessions per game because of the heavy run bias. If we could just get to top 50 on defense in this current era... watch out. It’s funny how people continue to think GT’s defense hasn’t been bad for 14/16 years. This isn’t something new. Yes, 2019 through present is at an even new level of bad, but the GT D was thankfully bailed out for the most part by the O under CPJ. But for context from 2008 until 2023 here are GT’s final D rankings. Outside of 2008 and to an extent 2013, the D has been a liability for GT.
2008: #21 18.8 ppg
2009: #56 24.8 ppg
2010: #57 25.2 ppg
2011: #60 26.1 ppg
2012: #65 28.3 ppg
2013: #29 22.8 ppg
2014: #52 25.1 ppg
2015: #56 25.8 ppg
2016: #47 25.0 ppg
2017: #64 26.5 ppg
2018: #81 28.9 ppg
2019: #106 32.4 ppg
2020: COVID year. Bad. Enough said.
2021: #101 33.5 ppg
2022: #87 28.4 ppg
2023: #105 31.8 ppg
