Our Defense vs. Their Offense

This ND team reminds me a lot of UVA teams under Groh. Decent-to-good QB, decent RB, stout O-Line.

I think we'll be able to handle them OK. I don't think they'll be able to commit to a power running game against us as we actually have fared pretty well against the run under Roof, IMO.

Not to get overconfident, but I think we are giving ND too much credit. Let's not forget that ND had a record of 1-5 in the second half of the regular season last year. If it wasn't for a close bowl win over an SEC-W team, they would not have nearly as much hype going into 2015. This year, they've only looked strong against a Texas team that subsequently got kicked up and down by Rice (but managed to win because of 5 turnovers). UVa has become a perennial Coastal cellar-dweller in the ACC, but they had mighty ND on the ropes in Charlottesville. I'm glad Tech can get a solid W against ND before the pollsters discover they are a dud again this year. Then again, I might be wrong.

The more I think about it, I think you're super right.

Hard to disagree with this, but the issue of our young A-backs remains. They'll look like dynamite young players... until they fumble a pitch. As long as we execute without fumbles, I think we win handily. If we have bad timing like in the 1st quarter against Tulane and the pitch hits the ground twice, we will have a fight on our hands.

This kind of thing about them and about us it what's driving most of us nuts this week.

Admittedly, the one who did that against Tulane is the Senior.

TOP is key. Keep Gostis, Days, Gamble, and Freeman fresh because they are going to have to go all out every play they are in.

Another key is Marshall holding on to the ball and breaking a long one.

There new RB (prosise i think its is?) looks like an athlete playing RB. In fact I think he was moved from WR before the latest injury for depth. He looks good in the open field and can certainly do damage if he gets the edge, but I'm not sure he's going to make the right reads/blocks/cuts that a seasoned RB would.

How is he is pass-pro? That's usually the issue with green RBs.

They didn't even really use him in pass protection until Zaire went down. On the one sack on Kaizer, he wasn't the guy that got beat. He's probably as good as the next converted wideout.

How much will Notre Dame #FearJabari?!?!

Jabari...anybody have an evaluation on him after our first 2 games?

Similar to Auburn IMO....lost 6 games last year but thanks to groupthink they were a consensus top 10 team based on...what?

ND will try to keep the ball away from our offense and win the TOP. I expect them to run the ball first and foremost.

When/if that doesn't work, I expect to see play-action with a late route dragging across the middle; relying on the skill of their OL to give Kizer enough time. Finally, I think they will have several designed QB run options from roll-outs and draws.
