… maybe more of a latter-Paul Hewitt/Gregory blend.

the next few years are going to suck. there’s no way around it. Todd can rot. he needs to go. raze the whole thing and start over. when CPJ left, the AD had one chance to manage the hiring process effectively and he completely ööööed this program. this whole debacle begins and ends with our inept AD.

I’ve just been sitting here stewing on the whole thing. I don’t know what else to say other than our program is about to enter the dark ages, like none we’ve seen since … öööö, I don’t know when … imagine the 1980 and 81 seasons … but for the next 5 years or more.

I can’t believe the folks hired to run our athletics program allowed this to happen. What a ööööing ööööshow.

but, öööö … this is the Tech legacy, isn’t it? I swear, Bear Bryant must’ve sacrificed a herd of Bama sorority girls to satan himself and hexed us or some öööö.

When CPJ Quit, CGC is what a $3MM per yr HC looked like back then based on the openings available and what we were paying, sometimes it happens like that.

Time to be a big Braves (and maybe Hurricanes) fan for a few years.
At least Bally is a more or less standard cable channel in these parts. No more scouring the deep cable listings for Tech games.

The season was bad enough -particularly the last two games, and now the last 36 hours have made a bad situation even worse. In my 50+ years of being a Tech fan, Lewis losing the locker room in ‘94 and Curry’s first two seasons before he and Rice brought the program back from potential extinction, are the only two things I can compare this to -and I’m with you in thinking this could be worse than either of those.

I am angry, dismayed, sad, and at times apathetic to it all. Like a lot of us, I had high hopes going into ‘19, but right now I don’t know what to think anymore. I’m as optimistic as any fan we have, but I’m at a total loss right now.

I think you are 100% correct.

Folks higher up than coaches should be held accountable.

I think a big mistake was not making the major coaching changes after year 2 or even year 1. The problems were evident, 3 wins should never have been acceptable.

Auburn's head coach is on their first year and he just fired Mike Bobo.
I can’t speak to Thacker, I honestly thought he was a good up and coming coach. But the problem on offense is that Dave Patenaude should never have been hired to begin with. All the talk was about innovation and this and that, but players weren’t put in position to succeed to begin with and everything was so predictable with the third and long swing passes, 2nd and 10 runs after an incompletion, 4th and 1 shotgun draws up the middle. Just a painfully bad waste of 3 years on offense.

Defense I don’t get why it got so bad, and yes it was worse than offense, but offense went very predictably for 3 years which is a problem for a coach who always talked about his long-term vision.

Couldn't agree more. Collins had to bring his bud in from Temple is all. Patenaude wasn't good there either

It's not really subjective. Where we are today in 2021 is much worse than 1994.
