Our Football Program Has Entered Its Brian Gregory Phase

… maybe more of a latter-Paul Hewitt/Gregory blend.

the next few years are going to suck. there’s no way around it. Todd can rot. he needs to go. raze the whole thing and start over. when CPJ left, the AD had one chance to manage the hiring process effectively and he completely ööööed this program. this whole debacle begins and ends with our inept AD.

I’ve just been sitting here stewing on the whole thing. I don’t know what else to say other than our program is about to enter the dark ages, like none we’ve seen since … öööö, I don’t know when … imagine the 1980 and 81 seasons … but for the next 5 years or more.

I can’t believe the folks hired to run our athletics program allowed this to happen. What a ööööing ööööshow.

but, öööö … this is the Tech legacy, isn’t it? I swear, Bear Bryant must’ve sacrificed a herd of Bama sorority girls to satan himself and hexed us or some öööö.

öööö
I appreciate all the different ways we’ve started threads to say one thing: Fire GC.

I keep hoping TStan will open one of them and see the light.

This is not going to subside. It’s not a “reasonable people can disagree” decision. It’s a terrible decision that should be changed immediately or result in TStans immediate dismissal so someone with a brain can take over.

Fans are either going to be apathetic non supporters or they are going to be just as mad about this in a month as they are now (absent some unbelievable hire, and I don’t see that happening).

Woke up this morning thinking I could feel better about things but in fact, I feel worse. I just don't see how Tech ever gets back to being relevant in football.

I'll big cry myself, thank you

One of the ways TStan can make strides is by immersing himself and Geoff into fan dedicated outreach programs. Everything from how they message things in the press (drop: we're close...we're building something special...we're making progress - for the love of God, tell Geoff he's fired if he says anything close to "people don't want to talk about it" or "you don't want to see it" again) to fan outreach (football club appearances, off season call in shows, fraternity/sorority/student events on campus to creating some sort of fund raising program or initiative that gets people moving in the same direction again.

We're becoming apathetic so inject some optimism and connection again.
We're poor so find creative ways to inject the cash needed for the program to compete in today's environment.

If we can get two stud coordinators and keep this class together, then there might be a glimmer of hope. Two or three top 25 classes can cure a lot of ills. Best we can hope for.

But we have to get two stud coordinators - punt Key if necessary to free up some room under the salary cap. Its cheaper and more realistic then a buyout which seems almost impossible at this point.

There's no comparable basketball situation to this. This isn't just a downcycle, we are fighting for our life as a P5 program right now. Our location gives us a leg up, but how many more rounds of realignment and consolidation do we survive in our current state? We're a lot closer to being Tulane than we are to being UGA.
