Our Own Embarassing Fans

Going to the GT/JSU game this year on MARTA was like being on a different planet. Alabama/VThug fans w/ people dressed up for DragonCon parade.

How many people have honestly been called Sheldon on Big Bang Theory? Don't lie...

Tech guys are generally a lot more in the Wolowitz/Rajesh area.

:laugher:I have wanted to bring up Flag Boy so many times on ST but my internal censor (yes, I have one) has prevented me from doing so. I often think of flag boy and wonder how he's doing. I suppose it would now be un-PC to use the term for him that was popular during his glory days.

I'm not going to say it, but.....

Laughing stock? Perhaps the problem is you care too much about what SEC fans think about Tech fans.

Maybe you should adopt a team whose fanbase fits you better. Then you could join in the laughter freely and everyone would be happier.

There are nerds at UGA; there are rednecks at GT. Stereotypes aren't rules. But I would rather be stereotyped as a nerd than a redneck.

Seriously though, if you guys are upset by these things you A) probably didn't go to the Institute, and B) really need a new perspective on what it means to be a Tech fan. Yeah, we're different...would you rather us be like other schools of our quality and just not go to football games?

+1. Our fanbase is just as novel as our offense, and I love it. Let the other 118 Div. 1 fanbases be the same drunken no load rednecks most of whom have no association with the school whatsoever.
