Outschemed?.....

Our D was in a bad position IMO. They could run at will which totally exploits us because we blitz so much. Some of the blitzes helped us getting to the RB but when it didnt, it was deadly. Their backs got to the second level and our DB's were left for dead. It was just us getting out-manned.

The defense wasn't only tired because our offense couldn't sustain a drive. They had to deal with the rushing attack no huddle. Tommy Bowden gets a kudos for his gameplan.

I think our biggest weaknesses were exposed last night...
1.) Our OLine. Which contrary to what so many people have stated are not and HAVE NEVER been a strength.
2.) Reggie Ball getting flustered.
Reggie Ball should have been taken out if he was so hurt. And how many times did we pass in the first half 4? After we got the interference call on CJ why did we not try to make them stop him deep again? and why did we not use Grant more? The short period of time he was in he looked better then Choice against that defense. Sometimes its good to mix things up but under Chan we never do. We where out coached across the board and made no adjustments at half time. I agree with you we will never get past a middle of the pack team under Gaily.

that had to be a read issue. Reggie is NOT scared to take a hit. They must have been showing him some coverage that he had never seen b/f and was NOT prepared to throw into.

Clearly Nix dropped the ball b/c CG would not let him talk to the media after the game. If Nix would have had ANYTHING to say then CG would not have protected him from the media whores.

I agree completely w/ the "where did this clumsem team come from?"

I still think VT beat this clemson team on thursday. Wake had their foot on this team's throat.

Like I said above this was JUST LIKE the UNC game 2 years ago. They ran it right down our throats and were NOT that good.

Because the offense AND the defense screwed up SO BAD it is hard to adequately criticize the coaches.:laugher:

And don't even get me started about the placekicking.
Last week I said that Bell flat out sucked and everyone jumped all over me. I also said that I do not feel comfortable in a game winning situation with Bell and everyone said how good he was and that his misses this year where not his fault. Total crap. I wont say he sucks again but do I even have to?

No, you don't. Everybody understands we have a real big problem. Like you, I wish we had an alternative.

At this point, I say let Durant(our punter) try kicking field goals, we really have nothing to lose.

Could it have possibly been because the D got tired?

I think you are exactly right - Offense was on the field so little, D got worn down. IMO, that was a major contributor towards the poor tackling that gave them the big plays late.

This isn't to say we didn't miss some tackles (like Djay's) early, but it definitely seemed to get more prevalent in the 4th quarter.

Once again the offense was on the field almost 5 minutes more than the defense. Let's find some different excuses on why the defense didn't play real well.

What were the number of plays run by each team?

GT ran 8 more plays.

They have a game tracker on RR.com if you would like to see the actual numbers on the game.

Despite the TOP difference, I do think the DBs got tired towards the end. They were making tackles on just about every play because Clemson kept running the same thing past the first level. It's not that Clemson was on the field for that long, but that the same players kept having to make the tackles.

But the DBs tiring out is only what blew the game open for Clemson. Clemson dominated the LOS throughout the entire game and that's what ultimately led to the loss.

I can accept that, and you are right in your assesment. It's just seems so easy for some people to put all the blame on the offense.

Offense played very bad as well as the OL and it's very frustrating.

I have forgotten it and am ready to put on my game face for Thug U. I'm bringing 8 "NEW" Tech fans to the game and they are pumped.

Since some tickets are remaining this is a great chance to bring some new fans Saturday to see what a great atmosphere BDS@HGF is going to be like on our quest for our first ACCC in a while.

I would rather vomit than look at the stats from that rubbish that some called a game.

From that, it looks like the only difference in the game is about 4 or 5 long run plays.

The only reason we had more time of possession is that they ran no huddle and they scored quickly on several possessions.

You missed that we dominated in KO returns!

The problem is speed guys. When we play a team with a real OL and real speed, we get our doors blown with our style defense, which lives on the blitz. It happened with VT last year and Clemson this year. Once the RB's get past the DL, it is all about speed. CU is the class of the league this year and hopefully we will be catching up next year. With our division down, we still got a good chance to go to Jax'ville, but I will not bet on us again, if we play Clemson (losing a hundred is enuff).

If VT was able to kill us with their OL's speed then how come they couldn't do it this year? Did they lose all their speed? Or two eyars before at BDS@HGF?

Or for that matter why didn't Clemson do it to us last year?

It was 7-0 at half. Only in the middle of the second half did our D lose it. And it was because the Offense had been so unproductive that the defense began to get demoralized, IMO...
