Passing Down Tactics Adjusted

I've always heard that teams tend to pass more on 3rd down, but I think it is a big lie.

I remember it being a little different (but close) JJacket:

1st and 10 - Incomplete pass
2nd and 10 - off tackle, 4 yard gain
3rd and 6 - Incomplete pass
4th down punt for field position

He was so conservative!! I do remember being able to call his plays a VERY high percentage of the time.

I think you guys are off base on his 1st down strategy. From my recollection, it involved a coin flip.

Yeah, that sucked for sure.

I don't remember ever going 11-3 with chan, either.

Or going to, and winning an orange bowl.

Or beating uga, ever.

Or winning the ACC.

Honestly, I'll deal with the up and down.
I'd rather be solid every year and now I'm seeing unbalanced recruiting of offensive linemen that is akin to the unbalanced recruiting of A-backs that lead to last year's disaster. The offense that we hired CPJ for does not work when the OL is failing. But he won't put Sewak on the hot seat.

While I think adjusting the defense on third and long is a good idea, wouldn't adjusting the offense on third and long make sense too? Nobody respects the option in that situation and yet we still keep the qb on the line making useless fakes.

I will say, with Chan you knew you would never COMPLETELY suck any given year. But you weren't going to be good, either. So I guess that's something.

There was also a variation to this.

1st and 10 - Incomplete pass
2nd and 10 - off tackle, 3 yard gain
3rd and 7 - Swing pass, complete for 3 yard gain
4th and 4 - down punt for field position

No you're right and most of us would too. 1992 is just being his usual retard self.
1992 would much rather have had Bobby Ross' teams go 7-5 every year than win that one national title.

I remember Pat Nix against UGA and Wake being Choice for 8,10,18,4,7 - Throw bomb three straight and punt
