But they will still come poach our best players.
Exactly why a number of people advocate for the implosion of the ACC, and letting the chips fall as to programs being picked up by the money leagues. Under the current structure, ACC programs are at a huge disadvantage, and there seems to be no remedy on the horizonDefinitely a structure largely in place now where the lower tier players go to places like GT and other less significant programs. Such programs then become opportunities to try out for the top tier teams. If they're good enough, they quickly become free agents and leave. Sounds like minor league ball to me.... Also begs the question of how of these top schools will soon balance their high school recruiting with just selecting from the small school players that prove worthy.
Transitioning from our minor league ball to the majors will be about impossible with the enormous TV contract differential that continues to expand.
You just about couldn't create a more different system than the one where we flourished in generations past where top players stayed and excelled for their 4 years, becoming legends in the process.
Pretty sure the lesson here - and I think it applies to every institution in every country across the globe - is that money always wins.Definitely a structure largely in place now where the lower tier players go to places like GT and other less significant programs. Two threads is two more than the number of games they've played so far in 2023.Says the guy who has started exactly two threads in this forum in 2023. A thread to let everyone know that Olivia Dunn takes in the most NIL money of any college athlete which has zero to do with football and this thread.
Be the change you want to see.
