Patrick Nix Gone (ESPN Link)

I don't think they had much of a choice. Word is Shannon interviewed 15 candidates and all of them told him to go jump off a bridge.

Okay, cut through the BOR talk and explain what you mean, please.

Not that I care WHERE you heard the "word," but what was the word. Or, better put, why did those candidates tell him that?

This whole situation keeps turning in unexpected directions....I guess we'll have to totally redesign our entire offensive schemes/play books since Nix leaves & goes to another ACC team w/in our conference w/ that same knowledge....This is going to be interesting. Breaking in a new QB w/ new OC & possibily a new HC....And w/ CJ going pro.... Bet lots of players/recruits are scratching their heads..."wondering what in the world" to put it politely...

SO who will be our top canidates for OC: (who is available).....Thank God Threet is already enrolled & hope we can hang onto Nesbitt.

Would they promote Giff Smith to OC???

what about our RB : Dwyer & Jones (they going to remain solid, not knowing what type offensive system they're walking into?)

Man, it's going to be a heck of a couple weeks once it all shakes loose! Thank God it's Friday!
Would they promote Giff Smith to OC???
ramblin, Giff I believe is a Defensive coach.

I'm just telling you what I have picked up from other boards. I don't know what the deal is with Randy Shannon, but higher profile candidates than Patrick Nix have interviewed and reportedly were offered a job under Shannon, and they turned it down. Whether that means they had less pay or less control, I don't know.

And Giff Smith is a defensive coach.

I heard Geis is a bonafide candidate and should have been named OC before Nix. Maybe Calvin had something to do with that, insisting that Geis be his WR coach while he was still there. Just speculating.

Honestly, Im a little shocked. He may well be great one day, but at the moment I don't feel like Nix has showed anything that would justify this kind of promotion.

Moving from our OC to Miami's OC is not a promotion!

But being OC at Miami is probably a pay increase and he is off the hot seat.

I want Chan to stay, provided he doesn't takeover the playcalling duties again.

I wish Pat all the success in the world. He is a fine man. This may actually hurt recruiting a bit because of his lost presence on the staff. However..

So far with us he just hasn't clicked whether it's been Gailey's doing or not and I feel like it's time to move on. A fresh hire from DRad on down would be best but I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Buddy get the responsibility. He might even be awesome at it.

If Chan gets all conservative and decides he'll call the shots for a couple of seasons I'll be sorely disappointed. Shirley Rad won't let that happen.

GO TECH! GRIND THE HEELS!

You may not get your wish ...unfortunately.
