This is an honest question. I think of estate sales as selling items of somebody that has died. Why do living people have estate sells? Is it usually from a shortage of money? A lack of room or a change in your domestic situation.

He is moving to Arizona, so he will probably get all new furniture and is throwing in some Russell swag and extra memorabilia. His new place might be smaller and he is looking to simplify. Or this is just the stuff he doesn't want to fool with moving across the country. Just a wealthy person's garage sale.

Next time I move I think it would be easier to rent a dumpster, throw everything in it, then start fresh in the new house rather than try to move all my crap like I did last year.

Might as well try to make a few bucks instead of throwing it away.

In Europe you sell the house with the furniture. Not fun if the previous owners had bad taste, but much easier to move.

Did that when I moved to NYC. All my furniture and other stuff was from straight out of college, not worth the cost/hassle of moving it all. Highly recommend.
