Playcall or bad read

Oops, that should have said 'didn't have that checkdown'. I don't think the option was there to throw to the slot receiver. I think it was just a bad playcall where CPJ was getting cute.

If you think our base play is just being cute, you may want to take a few seasons off.

That wasn't our base play. That was trips right, running the 3O to the left where we were even. The 3O is meant to be run to the side where we have numbers. I think it was CPJ trying to out athlete ND on the short side of the field.

So how was this play supposed to work? We ran option to the side where the D had the numbers advantage. Was JT5 supposed to audible out of this? Or was CPJ trying to catch someone out of position? Or did our outside linemen not know the playcall? Because the LT clearly let the DE free.

looks to me like a bad read. I think the p/s OLB was the read key, but was able to bounce out and force the pitch, leaving the S to make the tackle.

although, the interior blocking wasn't good, so it wouldn't have mattered much.

You confuse our base play with our base formation.

Also, if you look, the extra ABack on the trips side took a defender with him. We did not run the play against numbers. You're just wrong there.

I stand by my take that it was a bad read and bad interior blocking.

The interior blocking was bad. Our center barely slows the ILB.

I can see the bback give being the read. That play just wasn't going anywhere.

What is still quite puzzling is why CPJ thought it wise to make a smart ass comment about watching n.d. playing on tv and got so scared he had to turn it off.

Can not imagine any coac...., oh wait, it was smart ass CPJ.

Can not wait for 2016 to see at least 4 OL hitting the deck like on the play above.
Yeah folks always say the chop or cut block is bad on opponents knees and they are right but............the belly flop block is bad on your stomach......wonder if we can invent a cushion for the tummy..........

Please break down this play too.

I'll hang up and listen...

The receiver breaking to the corner at the 40 looks open to me.

The blocks on 17 and 98 are shameful. Could've been convicted for accessory to manslaughter.
