Yeah some Vols fans got upset about this, didn't understand the tounge-in-cheek nature of the fundraiser. Literally just a way to participate as a fan, and a way to capitalize as an Athletic department. My wife is an alum and we donated $16 in good fun.

To a broader point, it is insane to me how absolutely important the Athletic director is to a schools success and I think we will see that here soon at GT. Tennessee hired Danny White from UCF at the height of their dysfunction in 2020. Now UT is already the first SEC school to win both the Men's BB and Baseball tourney's in the same year, they could be the first to add the SEC FB championship in the same year. Even though the Baseball and Men's BB coaches were already in place, those programs are thriving under competent leadership that had been lacking for years.

I don't think GT is the sleeping giant that UT was just given the differences in the nature of the fanbase. But I think GT has a lot of advantages being located in Atlanta and competing in a weaker P5 conference that means Tech can succeed at a very high level and compete for championships with the right leadership.
 
When I was at Tech, the goal posts were torn down for an away game and also after a Braves victory. Have no idea who paid for the replacements.

Maybe not in the same way as a UT that has so many built in advantages...but GT under competent leadership is definitely a sleeping giant.

Neither one approach Tom T Hall as a songwriter in my opinion. And I will stand on Kris Kristofferson's or Willie Nelson's coffee table & proclaim it. Lots of good ones come to mind from Stephen Foster, Irving Berlin, to Jimmy Webb & Lennon/McCartney. Like them all.

Well Lennon/McCartney are not American so that rules them out. Stephen Foster and Irving Berlin have to receive consideration, I’m standing on Dylan’s table and voting for John Prine.
 
FSU has the double supports, instead of single. Nearly impossible to tear down
