Heard on the radio this morning Nesbitt still might not be 100% for this game.

So yeah, blah de blah we don't know the full story blah de blah I trust PJ to do the right thing etc etc, but purely for the sake of discussion board argument, lets discuss the following "hypothetical" scenario:

Nesbitt is 80%, and playing him risks losing him for UGA, and probably means he won't be better than 80% for UGA if we don't lose him for UGA. Shaw has been taking all the reps in practice, and starting Shaw means Nesbitt will be 100% for UGA.

Without discussion the merits and accuracy of that purely hypothetical scenario, what do you do in this game?

This is a tough decision. I said Nesbitt still because he puts us in the best position to win. But I would hate to lose one of our best weapons before the UGA game. I am just glad I don't have to make that decision.

Nesbitt did not play well vs UNC while he was still hobbled. I'd like our chances better with a fully-practiced Shaw. Even if Nesbitt is 90%, there's a better than 10% chance he aggrivates the injury more, keeping him out of the uga game. If the O-line can show up to Miami (a.k.a. - not have four of the starters injured), Shaw will perform just fine.

That's kinda what I'm thinking. If Shaw's been practicing, then Shaw may be a better option than Nesbitt anyway.

100% Shaw vs UM

100% Nesbitt vs UGA
+3

I'm still hoping we'll see Shaw come out and prove that if and when it becomes his time to run this bad boy, he's going to be primed and ready. We saw him have a couple of good games earlier in the year, but we've also seen him in some tought spots.

One thing that I still can't wrap my mind around is why it is that when Jaybo comes into the game, the players around him seem to fall apart as opposed to Shaw himself.

You have to start Jaybo. Risking losing Nesbitt against Miami and not having him for UGAg is a lot worse of a scenario than not having him for Miami.

Looking at this in the worst case scenario: We play Josh and he gets hurt in the 2nd or 3rd quarter and is out for the Georgia game, I can't see Jaybo doing particularly well on a stage like in Sanford Stadium. There's the chance that he does do well, but I think the possibility also opens up that things get shaken early and we're looking at a 2002 repeat.

you have to sit nesbitt if hes not 100 percent. he wasnt 100 percent in the UNC game and couldnt rally behind him. When jaybo was in, and not committing penalties, he was able to get that option pitch out to the a-back for a couple big gainers. he just needs to learn how to hold onto the ball better. as does nesbitt. i think jaybo plays and plays well. i think nesbitt comes into ugay and tears it up!

We beat Miami with Taylor Bennett and Reggie Ball. Why not Shaw? The defense is going to have to win it anyway.

PS - I voted to start Josh and see how it goes. If he's slow and limping, then pull him.

Tough call. If O-line plays well we can win with Jaybo. If O-line plays like last game, then we will have to have Josh's elusiveness and passing ability to have a shot. I dont think we should "give up" on Miami to have a better shot at ugay. That sends a terrible message to the team.

To answer the poll though....If Nesbitt's not 100%, I say start Jaybo and put Nesbitt in IF we struggle.

The only reason I'd even play Josh against Miami if he's not 100% is to get him some game speed reps so he doesn't get rusty.

I think this is good for Jaybo. We really need two viable quarterback options because of the physical nature of this offense. We can't afford the ship to sink because of one injury.

Start Bryce Dykes vs Miami then we'll have Shaw and Nesbitt 100% for UGA. In fact, we should start all the 2nd stringers for Miami and save the starters for UGA.

Even though most of us would prefer to have a win over UGA than Miami (if we have to choose), the official decision would probably be based on the following:

1. We are still theoretically in a race for the division championship.

2. Ranking in the ACC will probably have a greater influence on our bowl game.

Therefore, I see beating Miami as the higher priority. Having said that, I don't think Nesbitt at 80% in our offense is better than Shaw at 100%. Unless Nesbitt is able perform near 100%, I think Jaybo's the man. I also think he can beat Miami at 40 degrees at BD under the lights.

I realize you guys are more focused on ugag right, but getting stomped by Miami isn't going to help things going into uga. We need to do what's needed to beat Miami first of all. Going into uga with a 2 game losing streak isn't going to help things with or without a healthy Nesbitt. I want whoever gives us the best chance to win the game on Thursday, period.

Yep, no brainer. An injured player is prone to mistakes and more injury, especially at such an athletically challenged position as QB in the TO.

Furthermore, we need a healthy Nesbitt to have a chance of keeping the dogs from tying our record of eight in a row.
