Possible candidates to succeed Gailey

Tony is a funny guy.

Maybe the coach isn't even on his lists.

Most of the guys on his lists are huge long shots.

I say about 3 on there have some legs

1. Jimbo
2. Cutcliffe
3. Muschamp

But the first offer will go to Spurrier, and I will donate 10% of my salary annually if he is the next coach.

The one thing that doesn't excite me about today's news is how uninspiring the list of candidates is, if in fact the candidate comes off that list.

Maybe we'll shock the world and hire Godsey.

Someone needs to get real about the list.
One, Terry (short boy) Bowden will not be a HC a GT. He needs to go back to Daddy and get a job.
As for Skippy Holtz, we tried the Eastern Carolina training grounds once and Damn that hurt. Besides his old man, well enough said about that broadcaster from ND.
This list has some good names, this two need to be removed, forever.

Why is Jimbo Fisher an offensive guru ? LSU's offense was nothing compared to what we've seen out of the Pac-10 and UF's last year, F$U's offense didn't get it done this year at all. I'd empty the bank on Chris Petersen -- he has energy, passion, innovation and a statue of liberty in his playbook.

I agree on UF, but in fairness, the Pac 10 just does not play a lot of defense either.

I'm not sure why conferences seem to fall into a conference wide cycle, but the ACC plays defense and the Pac 10 plays offense.

I was not impressed with Fisher's handling of the offense at FSU, but just like Chan, it may have a lot to do with the quarterback you are dealt at that time.

Chris Peterson (My top bet)

June Jones. (My long shot)

I don't think either of these are going to happen.

Petersen probably have opportunities that make more sense for him geographically and probably money-wise, if he leaves.

Jones does not make sense on alot of levels. He really does not have to recruit at Hawaii.

The three from Barnhart's list that have some legs are Edsall, Fisher, and Muschamp. And maybe Tenuta (since Dan said he'd like him to interview).

You are correct IMO. those three are the only three who will even be considered on his list and my guess is DrAD has one of that group he prefers more than the other. Edsall will take the job if offered, no doubt. so the real question is do we have someone better than Edsal in mind? and is Edsall a risk?

I think he would do well here in every way but recrutiing. i'm not sure how quickly our recruiting would improve and if it would even stay about where it is now.

I don't remember that about Richt, I remember that he was a part of their very long successful period.

My hope : Ron Zook (Long shot and would be expensive)
My Guess: Edsall

I keep going back and forth on who I like the best and after reading more about all the so called candidates I have changed my opinion. I have moved Will Muschamp up to my number 1 and Fisher to number two. Muschamp seems to have more fire and get it done attitude then Fisher. I think either would be a good choice though. But you got to love Muschamp's intensity.

Geographically ? Nothing is near Boise anyway, I'm sure his entire family is dying to get out of that frozen wasteland. I hope he's on our list but I get a sense we are going to go with a local yokel. CP might help with recruiting nationally since the backyard fight is all but lost.

One thing I would not look forward to if we hired Muschamp, as quoted by a dawg:

I think Will Muschamp needs to worry about how we will react to be honest. That's just plain treason. It just baffles my mind how he could even consider that move. He was raised a Georgia boy, which means he was raised to HATE yech. Now he's gonna don the gt gold and root for the ramblin wreck? You gotta be kidding me! That's just funny right there.
The bigger & more important question is: how do tech fans feel about hiring Muschamp?
I would have to think it is your worst nightmare that the BEST available coach for you is a UGA grad & former player....that you had to dip into OUR pool for a talented, accomplished coach - the future of your program, no less, rides on a Georgia boy. That can't possibly sit well. Hell, I would expect a few suicides over that one.

Of course, as long as he wins I can live w/ the grief of hearing UGAy fans talk trash.
