Re: Johnson D-Day (Afternoon Updates 12/5)

Long time reader, first time poster.

As my first post, this will be a memorable one....
FACT: Coaches have an urgent staff meeting tomorrow that was called this afternoon

Yeah, I saw that. I'm guessing tomorrow we'll have a presser at either SMU or GT, announcing PJ as the new coach.

Man, I hope it's GT...

I am going to guess that the meeting is about what PJ's intentions are.LOL!!!

Well, we already know that PJ will be going somewhere so I am not surprised.

I am with you brother,we need to not let a 2nd rate school like SMU outbid us, this is our chance to step up and shine.

Do we really want to pay a guy 2 million a year and plus CCG's 1 million a year to have the TO at Tech?

I think it will work but I don't think it will take us to the next level or win any MNC.

Not worth the dough to me... Let SMU have him

remember....the $4 million for CG is being paid by a bunch of fat old grumpy men that still think we compete with Rice, Brown, Suwanee, and Duke for the national title each year...paid by earmarked donations.

Definitely. Bring on Hatcher!

do you know if that money has been raised? a family friend said he was contacted last week about "donating" to this cause.

If Hatcher was definitely going to be the next guy, I'd agree with you, but it sounds like they'd turn to Tenuta.

Gotcha...

And, I'm not trying to bash PJ at all I think he's done a great job. And, I"D LOVE to see him leave Navy... Go Army!....

I just think the 2 million mark for him as a HC is steep. I think we could get a better coach with that sorta of money. Or, Unite the fan base a lot better (and with less money) and hire a young guy like Hatcher.

You summed up my feelings exactly. Lets face it, 2 million is ridiculous for PJ. Can anyone confirm though that SMU offered 2 million? I cannot imagine them coming up with that much cash for PJ per year.

I think they do. They were able to Steve Orsini away from UCF to be there athletic director precisely because the money was lined up to move them back into the big time so if Orsini wants PJ, the bucks are probably there

SMU has a war chest of around $7 mil they have raised from some big wigs for the football program.
