Practice report... 33?... Bueller?... anyone?

Haha... sorry. I thought you were actually saying he was just making crap up, lol.

He does make some crap up! ;)

33 is a great guy... definitely sees things from his perspective, which I appreciate. Doesn't take any junk off anybody.

Thanks for the report, Dude.

Thanks Champ.
Looks like RB has left the team as I'd heard earlier. Melton/Sims/Hill will be a fun battle to watch

Okey dokey, that's a sophomore loss, so it should free up another scholly slot this year, correct?

How many slots are we up to now?

33 doesn't need to see it to write about it, if he said it they did it or else they will. He's the Chuck Norris of practice reports. :fingersx:

Does RB mean Clyburn? I thought he was a walk on.

Clyburn was a walk-on, so it doesn't free up a scholarship.

Jaybo fumbled at least 3 snaps that I saw unless he was intentionally practicing fumbled snaps.

PJ's been known to do that — to throw in a few wrinkles, some Murphy's Law kinda stuff, to see how the team reacts, to see if they know how to 1) run a fumble or interception back or 2) how to defend a fumble/interception return because the ball do take crazy bounces.
PJ and crew don't miss many tricks. That is one prepared bunch (throw out the LSU game, because we just got rag-dolled from start to finish. No other way to put it).

Shaw fumbled about 6 snaps and had about 2 bad pitches on sweeps behind the players..

not a good day for Jaybo.

Fumbled snaps aside, the first day of spring practice has brought up one major issue, one that cannot be overlooked --

...I don't believe that our helmet color matches the color of our shorts :eek5:

Yeah, but PJ's legs and socks are pretty close.

yeah, and we don't really have to worry about that. We have seen Jaybo play in two games as the main QB and even come in as a cold QB in couple of crucial games, so we know he will iron out the wrinkles. In Jaybo I trust, as the backup of course.

I think the most important goals of the spring practice is the run and shoot stuff and QB and WR execution.

For me, the most important goal is getting the O line to learn to block.

AMEN Beej! That's the single biggest goal for this team if it wants to take things to the next level.

Every problem we had last year went back to blocking.

We gotta learn to block.

Um, I recall quite a few cases of fumblitis by Jaybo - so yes, we do have to worry about it.

?? I recall only two fumbles by Jaybo...and one was because he was hit from behind as he began to pitch the ball.

How many times did Jaybo fumble?

1 vs Miss St, GT recovered
3 vs Duke, GT recovered 1, Duke recovered 2
1 vs FSU, FSU recovered

So 5 fumbles on the season, 3 lost.

How many times did Jaybo fumble?

Once against FSU, more because of the O line than his problem. Once against UNC, so that one is worth noting. And once against Miami, but it was in the fourth quarter so how much you can put on it is your guess.

However, it at least seemed more like Shaw fumbled cause he got hammered by a defensive player, not as much from screwing up a handoff/pitch/snap. So it's the lesser of two evils I think.

Shaw struggled all season with the speed with which the D's were coming at him. Several of his fumbles/bad-pitches were from being hit as he was decision-making. This is entirely expected from a guy who was playing 4A HS ball less than a year earlier. Speed differential does that to you.

The major step up this year, other than passing the ball more effectively, will be taking the offensive tempo up a notch or two. Defenses this year will be more familiar with what we run, but if we catch them a step slow, it will not matter what they know.
