Pres Finalist

In his two years as Chancellor, public support for the university has increased dramatically. Under his leadership the number of freshman applications increased by 35%, the number of underrepresented minorities in the freshmen class increased by 38%, sponsored research increased by more than 18% and private support and philanthropy increased by more than 80%.

Sounds great. Secondary to that, its also nice that he comes from schools with big-time athletics (TAMU & Colorado), so he should be used to that balancing act.

His name is George P. ? This is already a good sign. Seems like a good guy. Don't know if he'll love the Institute as much as someone that went here, but his resume sounds pretty solid.

I cannot wait till he hears the Band strike up the 'Bud' song at the start of the 4th QT.

With names like "George P" and Bud, I just hope he develops a quick hate for UGA.

It's a given! :laugher:

Wonder if anyone brought the whole George P. think up to him during the whole interviewing process. It would be hilarious if he didn't know about it until he gets hired.

Are we sure this isn't Burdell masquerading as someone else? For what it's worth, of all the things George P. Burdell has done, I don't think being President of Georgia Tech is one of them.

Maybe he's just adding to the list?

Wait, a Tech pres who has an athletic background?

Wow, how'd that happen?

I honestly thought this was going to be a joke when I saw the preview pop up as George P. "Bud." You can't make this stuff up!

I personally will miss Wayne, he was a nice guy. But Bud so far looks to have a pretty good resume. Here's to hoping that we keep the Institute on track. Good luck Bud.

I can't get over the total lack of coverage this received today from the AJC....they recycled an article from yesterday by replacing some key words to say "new president" vs. the early version which said "presidential finalist". Football/Sports are one thing but the total lack of respect for our institute is deplorable.

Thank God it wasn't that kooky woman from Renneasuler (I can't even come close to spelling it).

This guy is from one of the most liberal public universities in the country. He may be the second coming of Crecine in the end. But yes, I didn't want the RPI woman either.
