GT is 32. Wake Forest got a vote. Maryland, NC State and FSU are all ranked. We have more votes than Clemson. BYU has more votes than us.

Preseason Poll

I think that is pretty fair. The winner of the GT-CU game will be ranked.

MD deserves to be ranked b/c they won the ACC and NCST beat FSU at FSU.

But by us getting that many votes shows all we have to do is WIN and everything else will fall into place.

right where we want to be... off the radar screen but within stiking distance...

Lets hope all the ACC believes the hype about us being 6th or 5th or 4th (depending on the poll)in the ACC. Within sight of the real goal but a few wins will put on the map.

Correct, Ramblin'-ass, we got 'em right where we want 'em! History shows that GT does better in the underdog role.

Last season started with high expectations, and we flopped. Nobody expected anything in 2000, and GT came close to a MNC. Can't stand prosperity, I guess.

It sure is spooky how the '91 and '01 seasons were very similar. Both came right after banner years, resulting in high pre-season rankings and expectations. Both seasons saw a collapse, saw losses to Climpsun and UGAg after winning streaks were established against both of them, both seasons culminated with a win over Stanford in the bowl game, and both seasons saw a head coaching change. 2001, 1991, de jevu.

That is the whole point....it very well may be deja vu all over again. In addition to the similarities you mention, we also had excellent staffs that were wiped out; excellent head coaching candidates on staff that were passed over to hire from the outside....because the grass is always greener on the other side, right??
Bill Lewis was hired back then and his brother 'Buck' was hired this time.
Those who don't learn from history are bound to repeat it...and in five years the similarities are going to be a lot to bear.

A lot of the teams that were ranked in the lower top 25 will fall out after a few weeks. USC, Michigan State, South Carolina, etc will all fall out an so long as we take care of our own games we will be ranked easily. Of course if we blow Vandy out we may get ranked a little quicker.

Beeware... sheesh give it a break.

I am really getting sick of how you bash Coach Gailey so much. It seems like you want a second coming of the dark ages. Why exactly do you think Coach Gailey will be of the likes of thou who shall not be mentioned.

My boss at my old co-op job played for GT from 89-91 and went through spring practice of the BL era. He said that the reason the program went to crap was because thou who shall not be named was very unprofessionaly in his approach. He said it was like a junior high coach was just hired. My boss said BL was just happy to be there and did not know what to do when he got there. Now I can assure you Coach Gailey knows how to coach, prepare, and win or he would not have been recommended by everyone. Even Jerry Jones says he wishes he would not have pushed Gailey out. Plus the two pieces I feel are the most important pieces, the OC and DC. We kept BOB and brought in Tenuta. I think those are the best two moves we could have made. Just my opinion.

ole miss,
No need to make yourself sick...might want to take your Midol and take a nap.

Some people on here think Gailey is the next coming of Bobby Dodd, even Braine had the audacity to proclaim this when he hired him; others think he is a very mediocre choice, ala Bill Lewis.
Time will tell, but it is ok for others to have opinions different from you or me.
Five years from now we will KNOW who was right.

Ah, the old beeware is back. We were afraid you were sick, or found Jesus or something. When you find a cranky obsession, like CG=BL, stick with it!

There will be NO second coming of Coach Dodd! Gailey deserves a fair chance. I can't see the variables at TECH being too much for him. Every guy's gonna be different and have their own style which reminds me..who was on that other guy's staff?

I totally agree with Mississippi Jacket BW give it a break and lets just get on with the program. How much would it take for you to start your ranting on the VENT I'm sure they would love you over there with all the other mongrels.

Hear me now...It is more likely Chan Gailey will go 13-0 in each of the next five years than become a "Bill Lewis II".

I too like the fact GT is under the radar. To me this will provide motivation to one and all.

Bware, you are sure up early. Are you rehersing your route to HGF@BDS so you can bring "Buck" to the Vandy game since you feel he has no clue? Are you fishing too? Missed you because you are more entertaining than a Bell bashing.
