President Angel Cabrera

Encouraging news. Might have a really good team converging on Tech at the same time in Cabrera/Stansbury/CGC. I’m a big Stansbury fan - seems emotionally invested in all Tech sports (which makes sense as an alum). Shook his hand after the regional loss to Auburn last baseball playoffs and he was more pissed off than I was.

I agree. I think change needs to happen at multiple levels. Cabrera needs to be a facilitator mainly and have a vision for Tech which values strong athletics even if he isn't personally invested in making it happen. Really, CGC is an amazing find here. He comes to Tech with a much clearer picture for marketing the brand which isn't just football, and he combines that vision with specific ideas and the capacity to make it happen merely with some support and/or consent. Then he follows through. He makes external connections (e.g. Waffle House) and brings them to the table. Has to be every ADs dream so long as they are able to avoid seeing it as competition and are capable enough of expanding their vision of what we can accomplish. Those are far from automatic. We are lucky to have the pair because of how they've shown to work synergistically so far.

Stansbury is an awesome guy. He gets it. Knew that once I met him down in Orlando.
 
we had a good talk with TStan two years ago in the Tech hotel after a football game. Certainly not the buttoned up type. A very eye opening talk from him, too, about how bad our facilities were.
 
If a university president has 1/2 a brain, they would realize a strong athletic program is nothing but a benefit to the school instead of an enemy of academics.

Totally incredible that some are so book smart they don’t have the brains to get out of the rain.

At this early stage, President AC seems to “get it”. Hope the HillS...s don’t infect him.
