Traffic crime and recycling?
To the Georgia Tech campus community:

After an exciting victory on Saturday, our football team opens its conference schedule tomorrow night against our Interstate-85 rivals, the Clemson Tigers. Because of the game's start time at 7:30 p.m., there is likely to be significant traffic congestion, both from fans traveling to campus and others of us who intend to leave for the evening.

While the Georgia Tech Police Department does a fine job managing the flow of traffic, events like this typically bring more cars and pedestrians than our streets and sidewalks are designed to handle. As ambassadors for this institution, I ask that students, faculty, and staff apply patience, caution, and good judgement during this time.

This game will be broadcast nationwide, so those of you planning to attend the game -- and I hope many of you will choose to do so -- are asked to demonstrate courtesy and good sportsmanship. Most importantly, I want to remind each of you to practice basic crime prevention techniques while walking to your car or residence hall following the game.

Our Game Day Recycling program has started strong and is seeking volunteers for our remaining home schedule. To learn more, visit www.recycle.gatech.edu. For parking information, policies, and procedures during home
football games, visit:

No Go Jackets!. No Wear your White. No Beat the Tigers. I thought this guy was supposed to be a football fan.

"...and others of us who intend to leave for the evening."

Am I misreading this when I think it means he won't be at the game? If so, that seems a little hard to believe.

No, I think he is referring just to "us" as a whole. There will be some of "us" who leave campus because some of "us" hate sports and think that "our" money should have been used on better computers for the library instead of hiring Paul Johnson.

Blasphemy!!!!

Blasphemy!!!!

They actually did a poll on this in the Technique when they increased the student athletic fees and like 30% said that we should spend the money on upgrades to the computers in the library. It was really sad.

They don't even realize that the football program makes money for school, when I tell them, they are surprised.

Absolute bull**** email. Should not be patronizing people like they don't know how to behave (this went out to everyone, professors included) and should not be from the president.

Bring back Clough, imo.

I could be wrong, but that looks like a Steve Spurrier poll vote. I hope our Pres. is more engaged and inspiring than that E-mail. That sure looks like an E-mail from a staffer to me. He needs to be careful, if that is the case.

I expect to see him dressed all in white from his head to his foot tomorrow evening.

Why did Clough leave? Did he really like the Smithsonian so much more?

he said "the others of US that intend on leaving for the evening"

sounds like he's not even planning on attending the game!!

He and his wife were at the last game and complimented several people on their gameday attire and spirit. I expect he will attend.

This ain't Boulder, Colorado. Tech fans aren't a bunch of Hippie Anarchists.

That's one of the most uninspiring messages ever.

He was present tonight at T-Night. I sincerely doubt he isn't planning on being at the game.

He really is much better spoken and motivating in person, rather than in an e-mail. And he said quite a few things about how important athletics is to a school at the Investiture and a couple other events I've seen him speak at.

Now that's President speak in true form.!!

GO JACKETS

Making money for the AA != making money for the school. That said, besides the student fee, I don't think GT gives any money to the GTAA.
