Probably the least meaningful loss in years, if you think about it

Does not impact the Georgia game.
Does not impact the ACC standings.

The only thing we really 'lost' yesterday was a shot at going to the playoff with 1 to 2 conference losses, and we probably didn't have that anyway. And we could still probably get to the playoff anyway if we run the table from here on out. I mean, we won't, we're not good enough on the perimeter on O, but we didn't even technically lose that opportunity.

And the game was closer than it seemed. Missed two FGs and had a TD called back on a questionable hold, that's 13 points right there.

The loss actually probably focuses us better for the Duke game, which means a lot more. Need to get our perimeter blocking problems fixed.

and maybe the most helpful.. flair pass to Skov now in regular rotation arsenal.

Let's hope. It's obviously in his wheelhouse, given his role at Stanford.

From the "biggest game since" thread.

ND is no bigger than Tulane in my mind. Every ACC game is bigger.

What are the implications of this game? I say none.

We lose, doesn't impact our ability to win the ACC. We can easily go on and win out after a ND loss and be in the playoff.

I figure that says it good enough for me. Sucks to have lost, but the game means nothing really in the total picture. All of the remaining games mean more.

I love GT as much, if not more, than anyone around.

We, I can not imagine, are ever going to the playoffs without being undeafeated. Not in this current landscape, and not playing an FCS team on the schedule.

We had a great year last year - with 3 LOSSES. We know why it was great. Focus on winning that one and a TON of other things fix themselves.

It doesn't necessarily hurt our ability to have a really great season, but it was a huge missed opportunity.

Maybe this is a wake up call or it shows we're not as good as I thought we are at this point. Hope we get after it for the rest of the year like we did after the NC game last season.

This, and also beej's post. As I posted in that ridiculous thread blaming the D, we had an opportunity to vault into the top 10 and build upon it. Instead we will fall to the back of the top 25.

The Coastal, ACC, UGA, and a Big Six bowl are all still there for the taking, so let's get ready for Duke, an important inner-division game.

If we had to lose, I would rather have lost to ND this week than Duke next. We need to pummel Duke next week.

Well at least Brian Van Gorder took CPJ to the 21st century.

It's the 3-5 years implications of the loss that bother me. Felt like Tech was at the cusp of finally ending all of the media bias against the offense and getting serious consideration from more recruits. Now it will be back to "can't beat good teams" and "high school offense".

Sure. But if I had to pick a game to lose, I'd rather lose it than even Duke next week.

Agreed, but was very disappointed with the offense. If we lose 56-48, I'd feel much better than when what we thought we could count on was non-existent for most of the game.

I actually feel better about losing with a great D performance than losing with a great O performance, since our D has classically been the problem. I have confidence in our coaches ability to fix offensive issues. I have rarely had confidence in our coaches ability to fix defensive issues.

And honestly? Other than a couple of long bombs to an obvious 1st round pick at WR, the defense looked quite good.

I think we can hold Duke under 14.

Roof fixed the defense last year. I'm worried about the OL. Justin didn't have time to escape anything. How do you fix four returning starters?

I'm more concerned about the ab perimeter blocking. Part of the problem might've also been ol getting stuffed and not getting to the second level but I can't say for sure. ID have to go back and watch the tape.

I'm the one who started the "biggest game since" thread, but I agree with the premise of this one. While beating ND would have been huge because it would have put us in the title chase, losing isn't that big of a deal. It literally has zero effect on our ACC goals, other than perhaps motivating the players to learn from their mistakes. Hell, even the CFP playoff is probably still there for us if we rattle off 11 straight. Not that I think we will, but it's nice to still have the stars to shoot for.
