QB depth now that Jaybo is out?

When CPJ coached at GSU under Erk Russell, he had a small QB named Tracy Ham. Many of you have probably heard of him. The guy was Joe Hamilton sized and I don't ever recall him missing a game. He was quick not fast and very difficult to tackle.

And my fav part about Ham...

Ham was equally adept at either running or passing. When his career ended he was the only collegiate player to have ever run for 3,000 yards and passed for 5,000 yards

Had it been 10 years later there was no way GSU would have landed him, he was before his time, and to be honest, I think he would have been NFL bound had he been playing in the 90's. (with all the hype that comes with great I-A QB's unlike GSU QB's)

It proves that CPJ will throw the ball as long as he has the players to do so. And it also proves that small QBs in this offense can survive physically and thrive.

Well when I was thinking of Bradford, I was thinking of someone who was normal height but thin, rather than someone who is genuinely small like Wright or Jones.

with Jaybo out, that means we have ONE LESS guy at QB.

I concur. I'd also like to say that in as many as half of our games if Josh goes down none of the back-ups have the skill or experience to pull out a win if we still need to score points. Tevin will be a solid backup, he's made a lot of improvement over the spring and fall practices. We shouldn't worry about not having experience at third string. I'm not aware of any teams in the country that go so deep at quarterback that a third-stringer could take on a bowl-eligible team and win, so in my mind the only true loss on our part are for competition. It is true our quarterbacks take a bigger beating than other teams but that's why we don't recruit players for the position built like Sam Bradford (scrawny fellow). Cheer up boys, don't forget how Nesbitt took on Georgia and Miami with a bum ankle and ran a great offense with limited personal abuse.

If a team can force us in the same situation like VT did last year where the quarterback is doing all the work and getting a beating then we already are having a big problem before worrying about injuries and depth.
Complete speculation. The FACT is that going into last season, Josh didn't have the experience to pull out any wins either. All of our QBs have the skill or they wouldn't be on the team.

unfortunately, this doesnt prove that because Ham didnt go up against d-1 talent, i.e. 300 lb DTs and 230 lb LBs...

pretty sure that we are going to be running many other plays other than the TO to get the ball in the hands of our other playmakers. definitely more traps and misdirection plays.

QB's are going to get hurt, moreso in an option offense because of more direct hits at full speed. We simply have to be deep at QB. Quit worrying about redshirts, everybody has to be ready to play when called on.

Wen we ran the option in the 70's Myers got hurt and Rudy Allen was not a good fit to run the wishbone. Injuries had us playing an RB at QB a couple of years after that - Bucky Shamburger. I am pretty sure Gary Lanier was a fill in for an injured QB in '76 as a freshman. We need six in the program and they need to be ready to step up and play.

Paging Mr. Booker. Would Calvin Booker please report to the "I beg to differ" room. Mr. Henry is waiting for you.

There is more to QB play than skills. Josh's experience has allowed CPJ to use more of the playbook and incorporate adjustments. As defenses get experience playing against us and studying film, we have to get better and stay one step ahead. Jaybo will be more up to speed with this than Washington, and the freshmen are still learning the basics. I'm sure defenses would love to see the basics again, instead of the full package.

Did PJ recruit him? Plus he's no longer on the team. Don't know much about Henry, but he's not a recruited player and is at the bottom of the depth chart. Try again.

Sarcastic wit is something you have little to none of. Everyone else knows it but you.
