Former uga star passed away in a house fire this AM. Also played for the Dolphins. Cedar shoals was his high school. Really sad situation. A little girl perished as well a long with the mom and moses. Happened in Walton co, which coincidentally is where I am right now. Awful news this Morning

He made $2.2 MM in the league, but died in an $80k home?

Probably made $1.1 MM after paying agents, lawyers, etc. then $600 MM or so after taxes, with no career to fall back on he had to live the rest of his life on maybe $20,000 / year. Should be a cautionary tale for high school recruits.

He was an assistant coach at Reinhardt the last several years. Far from the bright lights and big time, but nothing to be ashamed of, damn.

RIP

I'm not commenting on the guy, just that the quality of a degree matters. This guy basically achieved every 4*'s dream: excelled in the SEC, played in the NFL, made millions... and by his early 30s he lived in a trailer and was an assistant coach for a club team (or at least a sub-NCAA team).

I think yours is a time/place problem. Having seen pictures of the house, it does seem a little weird considering he was a former NFL player. Still, not the time to have that discussion IMHO.

Prayers for the family.

"Probably"? Not good enough. You are the all knowing as regards this person's, cut to short life. Tell us every single detail about what this person went through. All the transactions. Who in his life he may have had to have helped due to medical problems? Or, something you obviously would not know about, someone he may have been trying to help turn their life around.

The real cautionary tale for high school recruits here is avoid arrogant pricks.

I just pray the victims R.I.P.
