BTW, has anyone seen a report on Monday's lunch bunch?

We will find out Saturday where we are as a team and whether we are ready to take the next step.

He feels more confident about our depth at tailback after last Saturday’s games. He feels more comfortable and the coaches have a better feel for what our players can and cannot do. This helps in developing gameplans. He said that in addition to Hollings, Ford, Hatch and the other RBs have looked good.

Wes D said that BOB said that he has been really impressed with AJ’s poise.

CG said that we have not run the 2 minute offense in a game yet. We have run it against our 1st team Defense which he thinks is one of the best defenses that we will face this year.

Our first team is almost 65% on 3rd down conversions.

Caller asked about Jeremy Phillips: CG said he is coming along a lot faster than anyone felt he would a month ago. He feels that he would play fairly well in a game now, although he has not gotten back to 100% yet.

On what he expect from Clemson: They are gonna throw the ball. They have 4 real good receivers. He expects that they will try to throw and then throw some more. He is looking for Willie to spread the field out.

One key is whether we can get some pressure on Willie by our front four. He has been very pleased with Parker and another DLman whose name I didn’t catch. He is glad to get G. Johnson back for the game this week and feels that he will help us put the pressure on.

CG said that if he had his choice, at the end of the season he would like to have 400 passes and 400 rushes. However, that won’t be the case. However, he thinks we have to caution from being too one sided. We have too much talent to become 1 dimensional.

Tech is 2nd in the ACC in defensive pass efficiency. This also tells a lot about even our second teamers. We gave up a lot of this on two big plays last week against UConn.

Talker asked about the true freshmen. CG said if he had his choice he would RS every one of them but it is not realistic. We have certain needs that dictate that we have to play some of them this year. When CG was in college, it was required to “RS” freshman. He is very high on the freshmen as a group.

Injuries are the main thing that dictate which freshmen play. Fortunately we have not had many injuries this year.

There was only 15 scholly’s to give this year and we had 15 returning starters, so if there was an ideal time for a transition, this was the year.

He said that our OL does not like having to line up against some of the true freshmen that we brought in. Mentioned Pullen, Matthews, and a couple of others.

Caller asked about Bilbo: CG said that if he wouldn’t tell the media how he was going to use Bilbo, then he definitely was not going to tell the caller on a call-in radio show. Just getting him on the field will be important for his development.

CG said that J Smith has almost made it all the way back, he is almost 100% but not quite, and that we just need to get him on the practice field some more to get some timing patterns down. He feels that when he gets some reps in, then his productivity will go way up. He is also expecting to have Curry back for the UNC game.

John in Duluth asked what concerns CG most defensively from Clemson’s offense. First is the size of the OL of Clemson. The second is the size of their receivers.

Heath in Atlanta asked about the freshmen again. Gilliam and Bridges was mentioned again. Also asked about recruiting. CG saideverybody this time of the year thinks recruiting is going well. Only time will tell, but they are getting very positive responses from the prospects. We will have a better feel in February on how it is going.

We can expect something funky from Clemson in their special teams on Saturday. Either a reverse on KO, or fumblerooskie, or something similar. He thinks our ST will be ready and are going to attack their ST.

One of other freshman DL he mentioned was Brazina.

Thanks for the recap. Always catch things in recaps here and hive that I missed. For some reason it's hard to make the world stop around you during coaches call in show, so I miss some things.
