Funny how the "just throw short passes" comment follows up the "just throw slants" comment from a few weeks ago. I guess they get their coaching skills from playing Madden.

Actually, throwing slants or screens every play will let a defense eat you alive. They somewhat negate poor pass protection for longer throws, but if you don't have the longer throws and rely on quick-hitting passes too much, the corners jump the routes. CPJ is right that most people with such simplistic criticism probably haven't coached or played.

CPJ's comments on six mid-season coaching vacancies were also interesting. Mathematically, every team can't win every game. What's the end game of all these high salaries followed by firings? Schools with pockets like Michigan or Alabama will eventually find their Harbaugh or Saban. But schools with only medium-sized pockets and serious structural issues, like South Carolina and Miami, are trying the same strategy. It can't end well.

In NCAA 14, every time they stuff the box, I just run the PA wheel route. Automatic 30-40 yards and/or touchdown. I can show CPJ how to do it.
