Rank our next 4 games.....

I'm sorry, but if we go 0-2 against dook and ugag, the championship game and Orange bowl will be all but meaningless. Yeah, the players will get their rings and they'll have earned them, but as far as respect and rankings we'll end up just about where we are right now - 18-20 at the end of the season win or lose the bowl game.

Part of the benefits of a 9-2 record going into post season play is if you're successful in the post season, you'll be positioned better in the preseason polls which is (unfortunately) essential for getting that #1 or #2 ranking at the end of the year and the shot at a NC.

And shouldn't that be where our sights are set for?

If we lose to DU and UGa next year preseason we'll be ranked in the top 25 but that's about it, regardless of the outcome of the post season.

Orange Bowl and ACC Championship would never be "all but meaningless" .. You may remember that we lost to duke or uga, but most people outside of tech will see the banners and go, "hey, they were pretty good that year".

of course I want to beat DU and UGA, thats the object of the game.. But when GT is etched on the Orange Bowl trophy there wont be an '*' with the UGA results.. this year, they are just another .500 team on our schedule. with no more value than duke.. Next year I hope they are 10-0 when we face them.

Im sure the UGA fans are loving the fact that we value them so highly.. Im sure they discount us at every opportunity...

Screw UGA.. they have no power over making or breaking our season.. quit trying to give it to them. Break out of your perpetual victim syndrome.

No offense, but you sound like someone downplaying the UGAg game so you can say later it was no big deal if we lose...

I think I have spoken clearly enough so after this, Im through beating this dead horse.

I am downplaying the game now, before, during, and after. This year, UGA is nothing more than a .500 speedbump on our road to the ACC and Orange Bowl.. They may delude themselves into thinking they can effect our season, but we shouldnt. We roll in there, take care of business and move onto the real prizes..

When we win the UGA game, ACC and Orange Bowl and Im speaking about it later, I doubt I will even mention the UGA game.. no more than the Duke game.

ACC + Orange Bowl.

I disagree 100%...and the nations view of GT would disagree as well. Only GT and GA people care about the GT/GA game.

I would GLADLY take an ACC Championship victory and prime-time Orange Bowl berth....along with a Duke and UGA loss. ...we are not going to lose to Duke anyway...so that is a useless point.

I want a prime-time...only show in town...match-up at 8:00pm on January 2 in the Orange Bowl (against an SEC team preferably). The national exposure for this is immeasurable. Look at what it did for West Virginia last year. It made them a pre-season favorite...and look where Rutgers is despite being undefeated in the very same conference.

The Orange Bowl is HUGE.

For The National Spotlight...Yes, the UGA and Duke games are less important, but I don't want to hear one UGA fan talking about how they beat the ACC Champions and how they would easily run through the ACC if that was their Conference.

For My Own Selfish Reasons...I Want The UGA Game as Bad As Any Of Them.

I Do Agree However, That An Orangebowl Berth and Win Will Help The Program The Most.

1. UGA
2. UGA
3. UGA
4. UGA These rankings only count for those of us who remeber what it was like to own those sorry dogs back in the day. Whatever, Dodd's faults may have been, he struck terror in the hearts of Georgia fans who still tremble at the thought of "the Drought". After all whose jersey is retired at UGA along with Hershel and Sinkwich why a rather ordinary player in his day whose only claim to fame is that he scored the touchdown that broke the drought. So, I ask you, have you kicked your dog today? (ps. it was Theron Sapp)

guys guys guys...whats that quote in that favorite song of mine..."but if i had a son sir ill tell you what he'd do. he'd yell TO HELL WITH GEORGIA!!! LIKE HIS DADDY USED TO DO"

then of course there's "up with the white and gold DOWN WITH THE RED AND BLACK!!!"

hell maybe you should look at all the lyrics to that:
oh well it's up with the white and gold
DOWN WITH THE RED AND BLACK
georgia tech is up for a victory
WE'LL DROP THE BATTLE AXE ON GEORGIA'S HEAD
WHEN WE MEET HER OUR TEAM IS SURE TO BEAT HER
down on the farm there will be no sound
till our bow wows rip through the air
WHEN THE BATTLE IS OVER GEORGIA'S TEAM WILL BE FOUND WITH THE YELLOW JACKETS SWARMING ROUND

i mean come on guys...this hate is the root of everything that we are...theres is nothing i hate more in life than uGAY...i mean yes i am loving the way this season is going...i would love to win the acccg and the orange bowl...but without a win vs uGAY i'll just remember this as the year we did all of that and still found a way to lose to them...we CANNOT lose this game...the fact that they arent having their typical season makes it even more impt...if i have to go a whole year hearing "man yall sure were good last year" sarcastically from a freaking mutt i will kill myself...

maybe there are different kinds of tech fans out there in the world...those who do not understand this rivalry and those that do...i am only 21 years old and for these 21 years i have lived and died by the ramblin wreck and every day there is a game being played by us in football, basketball, or baseball i am either there or by a tv or radio cheering...but if there is a uGAY game on i will be right there cheering against them no matter who the hell they are playing...i live for the tech vs uGAY games...and im tired of finding a way to lose no matter how good or bad we are or they are...THIS IS THE MOST IMPT GAME OF THE YEAR in my book...

here's a little article from the tbook for yall: To Hell with Georgia!

Since the first baseball game waged between Tech and Georgia, there's been hostility. Actually, hostility is a bit mild. War is a bit mild for that matter.
The modern era of the Tech/U(sic)GA rivalry began in 1924, after several years of cut athletic ties. Our rivalry since then has been kind of tame compared to what caused the split in the previous years. There was manure, continuous fighting, and insults even the fiercest fans today would find excessive and in very poor taste. While much of this was tolerated, to some extent, by the school populations, the final split occurred at a 1919 baseball game, where Georgia's yearly parade made the point that, while a patriotic Georgia was fighting in France, a cowardly Tech was playing football in Atlanta. The insult was too much for the Tech community, and all athletic ties were severed.
Since Tech and U(sic)GA started playing each other again in '24, the student bodies and faculties went back to attacking their opponents, though with somewhat more restraint than previously. Particularly at football games, the away crowd is never completely safe (especially if their team wins), and fights are the norm.
How has the rivalry influenced Tech culture and traditions through the years? Think of the "Old Ford Race," most of our songs and cheers, our early journeys to Auburn to support the Tigers against U(sic)GA, and just about every insult you've ever heard about a bulldog, and you'll get the idea. As is expected from major schools confined in the same state, neither wants to bow down in combat to the other. It's rivalry, war. How else can you explain it?
It is impossible to do our rivalry with U(sic)GA justice in words. To really understand the feelings that go into such competition, you have to be there at the games and get into it. Remember, in the 1998 season, we'll play our last football game in Athens. We let U(sic)GA fans survive in Atlanta when we lose at home. We stole their flag from a stupid cheerleader foolish enough to bring it near our fans, but they survived. It'll be interesting to see how the dogs take it when we win between the hedges.
