I know many of you buy numerous pre-season magazines and have probably been doing so for many years like myself. When I was a kid in the early '70s, I couldn't buy enough....Athlon's, Street & Smith, GamePlan, etc.

Now there seem to be so many it is difficult to keep up. I usually always buy the Athlon's, Lindy's, & Street & Smith's. Which ones do you guys feel are the best? I really liked a new I found this past week called Phil Steele's preview. It is primarily for big time gamblers, but I enjoy the in-depth analysis, 7 year histories on each team, along with a new feature on player rankings coming out of high school, i.e. A.J. Suggs #16QB (which means he was considered the 16th best QB in the country his senior year in high school by averaging all the recruiting rankings). It is packed with stats and color photos.

Typically though, I enjoy and prefer Athlon's. I think they have always had a classy publication.

Now as far as predictions go, I don't know that I have ever really paid much attention to that aspect, so I have no idea which one(s) are accurate.

Thoughts??

I'm a preview junkie, too.
Always enjoy the in-conference rankings. This year, I believe some have Maryland ranked too high, and NC State too low. I see Tech coming in somewhere between 3rd and 5th.

Back in the '50s and '60s, getting Street & Smith's was almost as exciting as the first game. Lately I've liked Sporting News better because of all the sidebars and stuff, plus pretty good writing.

I love the preview magazines, if for nothing else, as a teaser to the upcoming season. However, I don't rely too much on their info, and they do seem to contradict themselves. (according to Lindy's, Rex Grossman is the #1 QB, while Ken Dorsey is picked to win the Heisman, and Byron Leftwich is picked to win the O'Brien award for best QB).
