Folks, the talent is getting sick. Think about it:

Dwyer, Jones, Allen, Cox, Wright
Watson, Peeples, Jemea Thomas, Orwin Smith
Drummond, Perkins, Lyons, Malone
(and whoever else we add this year...)

At this point, we're just stacking them 4 and 5 deep.

I think it's kind of exciting.

That is one way of looking at it but at the same time people are whining about lack of depth at other positions when there is a limited amount of scholarships than can be given out. Maybe we have TOO many RBs?

You can't help but be excited about the skill we have running the ball but it would just be great if we had the same level of skill blocking for them.

You also need to remember that, for a normal team, all those RBs would be labeled either HB or FB. With that in mind, I don't think we have more RBs than any other team. You also need to keep in mind that we don't recruit TEs, saves some scholly room for the OL.

Good point. Just give them the ball and let them run! Run piggy RUN!!!!!!!! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!

*If I come off as a little crazy right now it's because I have been studying audit and assurance services all weekend

I would agree that we have as many B-Backs as your average team would have running backs and A-backs practically replace tight end as far as numbers go but I think we would be better off to trade in an A back or 2 for skilled offensive linemen especially since many of the backs can play both.

Well, I'm assuming our coaching staff can count.

Having the 13 listed for 3 positions is a little over 4 per. There are 85 positions on the team so after you take out kickers that's 82 or 83 for 22 positions or a little less than 4 per.

Maybe we have one extra RB but the difference between having a 13th RB and an 18th lineman isn't all that critical I don't think. I also think it'll probably vary back and forth from year to year depending on who we want to recruit. If we get one excess stud OL wanting to sign up one year at the last minute I'll bet we get by with one less something somewhere else.

I think there are only 4 kinds of players anyway:

specialists - kickers and QBs
big dudes - linemen
medium dudes - linebackers, B-Backs, and an occasional small DE, big safety, or big WR
small dudes - A-Backs and most WR and DBs

I saw on the front page of the hive about a RB named Jon Lee he has been mentioned alot in articles ans seems to always be on the front page what are our chances of offering??

by the way Go Wildcats!! no one is better then the chee!!

Of the 13 listed, 2 are walkons not likely to see the field. Perkins is a commit who won't be eligible until 2010. So that leaves you with 10. 3 are true freshman, all likely to redshirt. Now you have 7. Add in Jamal Paige and you have 8.

Your depth chart looks like

B-Dwyer
Cox
Watson

A- Jones Allen
Wright Peeples
Paige Malone/Cox/Freshman

PJ has said before that ideally he would like 5 A-backs to rotate in and out during a game. Obviously the top 3 will get the majority of the carries but he wants 5 ready to play. B-back, we only need one behind dwyer so he can get a breather here and there and I believe Watson will be that guy. All freshmen should RS this year like PJ wants them too.

So. Awesome. We so rarely had that luxury under Chan. Man we're going to be deep in 2011.

PJ brought in 3 lineman when he first got here. Then last year he brought in four more. Now were bringing in two for the 2010 class.

Thou Shalt not question thy leader!!!!!!!

Why does everyone think I'm second guessing PJ? I'm talking about the surgeries that kept players out of the spring and will probably affect them during the season. Not to mention we lost Gardner to the NFL who was in my opinion the best guy on the o-line.

I agree Gardner was great. But soon as he left we had our two best offensive performances of the year with Miami and then UGA.

Don't forget that in between him leaving and those 2 games there was that business with UNC.

That game was rough. Nesbitt shouldn't have played. He could barley walk. Then Shaw came in and we moved the ball then we would have a turnover. I really think we punish UNC this year.
