Reagan or Carter? Take your pick.

I spoke with Joe Ham at the half and he is begging for Gailey to let him coach the QB's but to no avail. It is not the players, it is the coach.

Two questions as to this issue:

Do we have a "slot" for an additional coach under the ncaa rules?

Didn't Joe Ham "help" with rb last year or the year before?

I understand that a year or two ago Joe helped with rb, but at that time Joe was still in school himself. Now to be allowed to "coach" he must fall with in the specified number of coaches allowed by the ncaa, either as a "graduate assistant" (must be a student and no pay, I believe), or as a paid assistant coach. In addition the coaching he does must fit within the number of hours a week an SA can be involved in athletic related activities.

While I am by no stretch of the imagination a ccg supporter, I can understand why he would refuse an offer that might run afoul of ncaa regulations, or disrupt the schedules for practice, film review, etc, that he has established.

I would like to see Joe Ham's "play for the love of the game" spirit and attitude become a permanent part of our team. I think that Joe could to much to help that happen. But you just can't "walk on" as a coach under the ncaa rules. I hope that Joe finds a position in coaching, and finds it at GT. Further, Joe needs to expect to start at the bottom. I don't know that "Assistant Coach- QB's" is an entry level coaching position. As he may have learned with his experience with rb, there is much more to coaching than simply knowing how to do it yourself.

I expect him to apply for the next vacancy on the GT football assistant coaching staff. If he does, I hope he gets the job.

GT football right now is like the stock of a company with a very unpopular CEO. No one is going to be willing to give us the benefit of doubt as long as Gailey is the coach. After enough disappointments, fans on the fence about buying tickets, stop buying tickets. Pollsters and those in the media like to be made to look good so programs that do that get ranked higher in the polls and get into the better bowls. People who have advocated for us in the media have been made to look foolish. With Gailey, we will always be ranked low for our record and will slide down into the lower tiered bowls because of the negative sentiment surrounding him. Hire a new coach and all the negative sentiment goes away. In order for the negative sentiment around Gailey to go away is for him to win the ACC or have a multi-year run against UGA. I don't think that he is capable of either of these two things.

I'm voting for Bill Clinton, and I'm not even a Democrate...

With all due respect GT92, the NC fan base didn’t seem too excited when they only purchased 2000 tickets for last weeks game at BDS… this from supposedly the largest fan base of Carolina alumni outside of NC (in Atlanta). Don’t we usually travel better than that?

Also I would like to hear how the current football players feel about their coaches. I know they are kids but they are key stakeholders and they will be making a big investment into this program over the next few years.

Lincoln said “a house divided cannot stand” and we are a house divided. After the VT game I posted that: win 1 of the next 3 regular season games and the choice will be easy, win 3 of then next 3 regular season games and the choice will be easy, win 3 of the next 4 (but not UGA) and there is a 50/50 chance on what choice will be made (and either could be argued), but until a change is made, I intend to support the current team.

If DRad makes a change, I will support the next regime also. I used to think that if a coaching change was made the fan base would automatically unite behind the new coach but I have some doubts. Depending on how Chan is treated and what is the reason he leaves, there could be a major split with our fan base (just like a number felt that McWhorter wasn’t treated respectfully) leading into the next staff.

Everything riding on one game, just the way it should be with the dawgs.
