I'm not saying he's not. I'm asking why she said "he's an SEC coach." She didn't say Paul Johnson is a former Navy coach or Frank Beamer used to coach in the Big East. She's implying that being an SEC coach means you're better than an ACC coach in some way. At least that's what it sounded like to me.
 
He has been a coach in the SEC every year but two since 1982. He was QB coach at Notre Dame in 2005, and Duke's head coach last year.

If that doesn't make you an SEC coach, I don't know what possibly can.

I guess. I just don't see why it's relevant. If Auburn were to hire Beamer, are they going to say "In Frank Beamer, Auburn is getting an ACC coach who can really coach up his team?" Maybe I'm just seeing something that's not there, but I don't think they're going to say that. It just seems like according to the media, anyone coming from the SEC must automatically be great.

How about, he knows the SEC, he knows the recruiting ground in the SEC, he knows SEC coaches and styles? He IS an SEC coach and as it's pretty much considered the best conference year in and year out, it's simply a statement that he can do it as that level so that proves he knows what he's doing.
 
So let me get this right. We have a brand new coach, who had a great year but didn't win anything conference wise, a writer he picked him 3rd in the conference based on that one year, and you guys are pissed off? Really?
