Recruit says message board posts caused him to decommit...

It looks like a variation of "Evander," a Greek name meaning "good man." "Blue" is a Southern variation of "Ballou," a French name.

Yeah, right.
Any Savannah Jackets out there remember Farntella Gregory at Beach High?

You would be suprise to know how many current students and recruits read these blogs and know about the various websites that Alums participate on. The current students knows BS when they see/hear it others try their best to ignore it. But a HS recruit will check out what the FANS that support the program says about them as a potential recruit and if you have some jerk posting negative articles about recruits I am very sure that can negatively affect a recruits overall views of the FANS, school and the sports program.

I don't think anyone is saying that blogs can't have an effect on a recruit. They are pretty much as accepted a media as newspapers and "official" sports websites now.

small affect if any. We don't want the type of SA that bases their life decision on what a bunch of armchair quarterbacks have to say on some message board.

Cause we only want 17 year olds who are mature enough to never make bad decisions....that means there may be 12 or 13 nationally who meet your criteria. Look, very few kids are going to make any kind of decision based on message boards. But if they are torn between schools and having a hard time making up their mind, you never know what will tip the scales. All people have ever said is that posters should have some sense about what they post and not go overboard talking about kids who play games.

I would certainly hope the athletes don't get too upset by my comments. I really didn't think they'd take the time to give a crap what I had to say anyways. I figured they'd be focused on studying and what their coach thought.

That being the case, I still think JN should be our starting qb and Jaybo should be #2. I don't think that would hurt Jaybo's feelings, but if he reads this and it does:

Jaybo, I'm glad you are our #2 guy!!! :D:D:D

You know what? You don't know that, even for yourself. It is easy enough to say in general terms; but if we were talking about a specific player that the coaching staff wanted badly and that player changed his mind because of some other blowhard on a message board then I am betting you'd be upset, as would the coaching staff.

If a talented SA goes somewhere else because of an ignorant comment, then he doesn't get hurt in the long run. The program gets hurt.

P.S.
What if a talented player decided to come to GT instead of another school because of ignorant posters on another board? Would you reject the talent because of how he made the decision?

P.P.S.
This really isn't about the maturity of 17-18 year olds and how they make decisions. This is about the maturity of adult fans who don't want to be held accountable for consequences of their own behavior.

Is that why Aycock is not at GT?

Kid's photo makes it look like his ears are either on the wrong side, upside down, or both!
