You mean the 3* and 2* guys that only get offered by Army and Middle Tenn State? Uh-oh, we're in trouble.
You do understnd that recruitig isn't CPJ choosing the players but rather asking players to choose to play for GT. And it's not Johnson's offense that tends to scare them away from GT.

CPJ has said on his radio show that he has a different recruiting philosophy than other schools. He doesn't want the 6'9" 250 lbs wide receiver who has always dominated because he's physically superior to other high school kids, he wants the 5'10" 155 lbs wide receiver who has had to work harder than everyone else to succeed in high school.
Smaller guys get less *'s.

Well, there's his problem. Jeune and Messick are 6'3", and none of our WR's are under 6' 190. Smelter and Waller were like 6'4". He needs to get some hard workin' small guys.![]()

I'd just like to say that Charles Kelly is a greatly under-appreciated loss. He may not turn out to be DC material, and there are plenty of FSU fans who already think that. But in one year at FSU he's landed more 4/5 players by himself than PJ's entire staff does in a 2-3 year span. And IIRC Kelly was behind some of the better signees (Claytor, Orwin, Jemea, Burnett, Golden, Bostic).
Also, it is pretty stunning that Duke already has more 4/5 than GT gets in a 2-3 year span. And it is a whole-staff effort by Duke too... no one star. Looking at things, Cutcliffe seems to have a staff nearly entirely made up of former Duke players.
Duke doesn't have the recruiting restrictions we do.
