Recruits coming soon...

Hiver,

That was probably a little harsh, but like you were saying the other day, we couldn't stop Fsu, and now this game against Georgie, I know P.J. can't be happy with our defense. I have re-watched the game on tape 2 times now and P.J. was disgusted for sure during the game with all those points given up, and I feel he will recruit/fix the problems. I will give Wommack another year and see.

I just don't want us to longe-range become like his Navy teams scoring bunches of points with no defense...We have to build a stout defense (A lot better than what we have seen this last half of the year) in order to win championships. UK and Auburn held Ugag to 24 and 17 respectively, we are better than both of those teams and should do a lot better defensivley.

Comparative scores are bullsh*t, that's the basis of your argument? Look at the youth and injuries that we have on D at the moment. And whether we like it or not, Ugag is by far the best offensive team we have played this year, preseason number 1 and we just beat them at the Cesspool. Plus we just played our 4th straight game against a ranked team and won 3 of them, I will take the win over the stats anytime. Jeez, man.

I REALLY SHOULD HAVE WAITED TOO...Maybe 24 hours and let everyone enjoy this great win..

But, facts are facts and we need a change at DC if we are to win championships.....
You're an idiot. Don't remember we're playing with essentially ALL fr and sophs in the D backfield and at LB? Plus the fact that we were into our 2-3 deep. Get a clue.

Let's see before going to Navy where PJ's ability to recruit was significantly hamper by the numerous recruiting restrictions imposed by a service academy, PJ's defenses averaged the following at Georgia Southern:

1997 = 17.62 ppg
1998 = 24.20 ppg
1999 = 17.47 ppg
2000 = 18.27 ppg
2001 = 15.36 ppg

2008 = 18.83 ppg

God forbid if we have to live through these kinds of defensive numbers year in and year out. :laugher::laugher::laugher::laugher:

1stgtfan

you must be kidding...we have one rough game defensively and you want a new coordinator? This GT team was Top 15 in the nation in defense all year long.
He also made things a little better in the second half.

UGA has one of the top offenses in the country....check out the scoring offense numbers.

PLUS:
Jahi did not play
Reese tried but could not play
Vance tried...but could not play many snaps
We lost 1st string LB Sedric Griffin
We lost 2nd string LB Shane Bowen
AT Barnes left halfway with an injury...so true frosh Sylvester had to play quality minutes.
Morgan got dinged up and had to sit out a good bit...forcing Hall and Egbuniwe into action.
We played 2 true freshman the entire game in the secondary...Reid and Taylor.

We had youth everywhere this year.

Fire Wommack and hire Croom....good freakin grief.

This would get at least 10 points on Around The Horn!

+1

Also don't forget that PJ is a no-BS guy, and if he thinks his DC is not doing the job, there will be a change there. He is not one to let an underperformer ruin his season.

Also, I love the Around the Horn reference Jeff. Most enjoyable sports show on television, I listen to it every night on podcast.

1st off, Ncman, your the idiot. I know you take it upon yourself to scan Stingtalk and the Hive being a policeman trying to refute anyone that doesn't drink 110% Kool-aid all the time and you had all the right answers when we 1st hired P.J. and some of us were a LITTLE concerned about his lack of defense on his past teams. F.Y.I. (Not that I care who you are or what you think) I'm a HUGE P.J. fan but will always speak concerning an area of weakness in our program when it is there, you can bank on it!!

Yes, I probably should have waited and posed this post some time after this week and let us all enjoy the win and then address it but, facts are facts (No excuses man, would of should of Fresh Soph, thats bull) The fact is we stunk on defense the last half of the year. You can't just cram the koolaide down my throat or anyone else, you will just show yourself as not being credible. We keep giving up points like Saturday and losing games like Unc, Uva it will keep us from those 12 win plus years and championships, I think P.J. will work to fix this , but I'm sure he wouldn't drink your koolaide for one minute and (After watching the tape at least 3 times now, I saw where he was mad and would have shut you up pretty quickly with your excuses saying it was because we had all Frosh and Soph. out there)
You don't drink koolaide all the time and ignore obvious areas of weakness that need to be addressed to become better...I repeat I'm a 110% P.J. man and everyone that knows me knows that, but unlike what I have learned from you (by watching you so religiously scanning Stingtalk and the Hive spreading koolaide on anyone that brings up a concern within our program) I look for improvement wherever it is needed. I probably should have waited a couple of days until posting this legite concern, while we all enjoy this great feeling of beating the dawgs again. But unlike you, I will be honest whether you like it or not man...You won't need to worry, I will not argue with you anymore because it is obvious you drink koolaide all day long and can't digest any real drinks.

I like Koolaid...dude just admit you dont know what you are talking about and move oonnnnnn.

Honestly, I can't believe how well we've played on defense this season with all the inexperience and injuries we've had. Wommack has done a good job.

As someone else stated, our defensive stats went
down considerably when JWD got hurt & when we
started playing the tougher teams on our schedule.
Which made the biggest impact, the latter of course,
but with our limited depth, its a miracle we stayed
competitive with all of our injuries.

You're an idiot. Don't remember we're playing with essentially ALL fr and sophs in the D backfield and at LB? Plus the fact that we were into our 2-3 deep. Get a clue.

And UGA had NFL first/second round calibre players at QB and both wide receiver spots. It was clear at half time that Stafford and company would pick us apart if he had any time at all by just rushing our front four. Womack did a great job in adjusting at half time to blitzing our LB's and holding the dawgs to 14 second half points, which won the game for us. I am sure PJ is not happy with the 42 points scored during the game, but thank goodness he has more sense than to throw Womack under the bus.

this thread went to suck. wasted 5 minutes of my life. in costa rica at that.
was there ANY discussion about recruits?

The biggest difference in the game was when our DBs would press their WRs at the LOS. The ugag passing game seemed to be based on alot of timing routes. When our guys came up and disrupted the timing, Stafford seemed to be a bit lost. I think that defensive adjustment spoke volumes about what Wommack and company were able to accomplish in the cesspool.

I love your enthusiasim, but as Hivered said earlier, we couldn't stop Fsu,Unc or Uva much less ugag today...We can NOT keep playing this lousy of defense and expect greatness...We will have the offense, but we have to build a championship defense to win 12+ games or a championship, has always been that way in football, defense wins championships..
Your point is well taken, but putting two freshmen in the defensive backfield due to injuries could not be avoided. Say what you will, I for one am praying that Stafford, Moreno, and Massaouid (sp?) take their game to the next level. Stafford is the best Georgia quarterback we have ever faced. Eric Z, Quincy, and even David G. are not even close. Moreno is arguably their best since the "multiple personalities one" and their receivers as a group are better than the ones Eric Z. had, Andre Hastings and company. Beating this Georgia team borders on the miraculous.

Buzztheirazz, couldn't agree w/you more & btw, pura vida!

artesianjacket, regardless of the overall semi-euphoria that we're dealing with today, your comment is 100% absolutely spot - on!

Well 1gtfan, seems like we know who won the exchange. Look, being critical doesn't mean you know what you're talking about. Where did I say we played great D? You won't find it because I didn't say it. Where you are an idiot is calling for a change in DC, not is being critical of our play Saturday in some areas. Get it?
